Hi mouseann
Just popping in to see how you are doing, I do follow your thread everyday, and am learning such a lot. We are also close to retirement, and I too have started the cca route....with Niddy'd guidance of course... :A .I'd be totally lost without his advice.:(
You sound a totally new person than you did when you first posted on here, confident and happier, which is nice to see. :T:T:T We are about 10 days behind you, so I will be following your progress, so if ever you think someone is following you.....its me.!!
Well done, and keep going:D

Thanks Elsie,
I do appreciate your comments - it is always good to hear from people who have been a bit "quiet" recently.
I am indeed trying to stay positive - but have to confess it is not always easy! And you are so right about Niddy's guidance - I think it is his involvement and guidance which has changed my outlook. But, I am not going to pretend it is going to be easy!
Have just received my post for today and nothing received - the clock is ticking on the receipt of those CCAs! I think it is also helpful to have that feeling that you are doing something - keeping records of all those letters I have sent and recording the resonses (or lack of them!) is keeping me quite busy!
The thing I did find useful was enrolling to BT's "Choose to Ignore" package. It does cost about £2.50 a month but for that you can have up to 10 numbers "barred". I currently have 6 - as soon as I see another number appearing I ignore it and then Google to see where it is from. I can then add it to the list if it is a "pester". Obviously, there may well come a time when I need to bar more than 10 numbers but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Probably by juggling them around!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

Hi mouseann how are you today? I thought that was a good tip(cant work out how to do quotes using just a sentence from a post). I never realised you could google the numbers to see who they are. Im not going to bar numbers as Im afraid they then might start ringing work like Lowell scowls have done, but at least i can Identify them and write to them to stop ringing. Got some free time and lots to do today but sitting on here instead.:o”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Hi Jinny,
I take your point re Lowells. At the moment I am only getting calls from the banks - not sure whether people like Lowells display their number, or use the "number withheld" feature. I suspect I may find out very soon!
The other alternative to Googling the number is to use 1471 and ring back - but obviously don't speak to them! This only works if this is the last number which called, though.
And I do know what you mean about avoiding doing things - I feel exactly the same today!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
I have rang 1471 and rang back but stupidly forgot to put 141 in front so they rang ME back three times and left a nasty message on my 1571!! saying "they know who I am" and why did I hang up. Hope their Mothers are proud of what they do.:p”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Hi,
We have all the telephone calls to start yet, but we will be avoiding them at all costs....most of family either text us or skype us, so really the calls will be mostly from creditors. I agree with you, its not going to be easy, but it is the right solution.!!
I have also set files up for the "fan " mail when it starts to come....one file for each of our creditors, I am determined not to make a mistake and upset Niddy.!! It's a scary feeling isn't it, but we will learn to toughen up, I said when we decided to go down the ccs route, I will find out if I have a backbone or not.!!

Hi both,
Probably not a good suggestion about phoning back after all, Jinny! I have been successful in being able to track down who they are via Google - although some have left messages on the answering machine. I have a list of the numbers - for some reason they all begin with 0845.
Like the idea of "fan mail", Elsie. I am sure Niddy would be very proud of your record-keeping! And I do agree that it is going to be a challenge to our ability to "toughen up" - which makes sharing experiences on this board even more important!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". I'll keep popping in to see you. We are all on the Geezers and Gals thread....we are all either retired or getting close to retirement, all in debt, and all slightly barmy.
Call in and have a ' virtual ' cuppa.

Afternoon Mouseann
Its all starting to happen and looks as if Niddy has extinguished one already!!! I too am keeping a close watch on your progress, creditors aren't charging interest at moment on DMP, but the minute they start we'll start CCAing them, so am watching the masterclass as it is being conducted, very useful.

Hi mouseann
Every time i see that there has been a reply to a thread that i have posted on, i look in to see what's happening. Even though i don't post, i'm still keeping an eye on you
At work i don't really have time to post alot so some of my posts may seem a little hurried and abrupt - just the facts type of thing. I post a little more when at home, but by then most of the queries have already been answered.
Don't worry, even though you can't see me, i'm still there.
