Frightened about my future

Glad to hear that you agree, Jinny.
And it was an absolute fiasco about those not being allowed to vote!

hi ann yes agree what you say about democracy. the fiasco about voters not being allowed to vote because of badly organized polling stations was terrible we are the first to critisize other third world countries that dont get it right. Mind i feel annoyed whenyou see the percentage of turnouts. People died to get us the vote it should be like when you get called up for jury service -you need a dam good excuse not to do it - thats me off me soapbox as well
It gets me annoyed too when people don't vote.
Did all those who missed voting turn up late? After all, the polling stations are open long hours. When I went to vote I was the only voter there!0 -

Actually, Pixiechick,
I did think the same when I saw all the queues of people on the telly. Wonder if they had called in on their way to or from the pub!
And, for obvious reasons, wish I had been the only person at the Polling Station!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

not quite sure what the problem was PC maybe shift workers thought they would have enough time later on, or maybe not enough polling stations. I only had to cross the road to vote but some peeps like SW had to walk 2 miles and Ann had to drive there (sorry to bring that back up Ann after what happened)but it should be better organized in future.
i think and what i read some people joined the queue at 8.30 pm, and because of bad organisation people still didn't get to vote as the queue was that long. it should be classed as a bankholiday so everyone can get to the polling stations in time (plus an extra day off).

I probably could have walked - it is about a mile away - as it was a nice day! No excuse for driving there - if there is another election soon I will either walk or park somewhere else! Just cannot cope with the sense of deja vue!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

That is scandalous - I second the bank holiday idea - even though I am now retired!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
The election result was what i was dreading. As a politician i rate Gordy quite highly - he seems to be more of a statesman than any of the other party leaders and i think would be our best bet to get the economy back on track.
The conservative shadow chancellor George Osborne called the treasury forecasts a work of fiction. Okay, that may be his opinion and he may not have much experience in the spotlight, but comment like that are really going to do nothing to improve our markets and only inflame the situation. I really can't see him being the one to pull us out of the fire.
The main reason i didn't want the conservatives to win (other than the economic policies) was the impact it will have next year with the Scottish election results. If the conservatives do get power (can't really see them agreeing to Proportional Representation), their £6Bn cuts in the public sector will have a big impact on the Scottish economy. I don't know how these cuts will be distributed, but i can see Scotland getting a greater % of the cuts than they currently get as % of the public sector budget. They only have one seat in Scotland so nothing really to lose in that respect. The economy here is tied more closely in the private sector to the public sector.
My fear though is that when the Scottish election comes around, the Scottish economy will be on its knees and the people may decide to vote for the SNP and full independence to avoid more Tory rule.
We don't really have a good history with the Tories but i based my decision purely on the policies. If the conservatives do gain power (and i hate how the press is saying that they have a majority - they are the largest minority. There is a difference.), i think alot of the anti Thatcher feelings will resurface (espcially after the poll tax) and people will be voting without looking at the detail and implication of their actions.
The polling stations were a fiasco with some people queuing for over an hour and still not able to get in, while one place closed its door an hour early because it had run out of ballot papers!!!
Sorry Ann, didn't mean to ge all political there, but i am genuinley worried about politics for the first time. Glad to see you're still making progress with the debts. Hopefully you'll soon have letters confirming that they will not be pursuing you until they have a copy of a properly executed agreement (and then 6 years later the debt will be statute barred).
Hope everyone else is okay and able to de-stress.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
