Mouseann . did you get a basic bank account sorted out ? are you in scotland , ie lanarkshire ? Just would suggest Airdrie Savings bank , you would prob have to be local tho . but i set up an account with them , they are Independant . Was like a blast from the past . think TSB circa 1977 , old style bank , goodness they still work in paper ! But they do what it says on the tin , amazing to be in control of your own money again0

The cheapest and most sensible option is to change your number, start from scratch and only give it to people who you want to have it.....
I advise everyone the same, whilst truecall is ok, it is not foolproof and only registers stored numbers, so if say for example you have something like 17 lenders, it'd be fruitless to you..
It works for Maz; in fact I even moaned at her when I noticed she'd paid for it, but I am not really into these gadgets as they are only as good as the user and/or time invested. You could find yourself changing numbers willy-nilly whenever a debt gets sold on etc.... thus a whole new landline stops everything, dead - there and then with instant results.
I've got one and I have to say it's a great piece of kit.:D
As you know I've been getting hassle from the banks since going down the CCA route and this piece of kit has been a life saver over the past week with Capone ringing several times a day.
To start with I was just blocking out the individual numbers as they were coming through but with them using so many different ones this was becoming a pain, so now I've got it set up that only people I want to speak to (on my star list) get through and the rest just here the ringing tone as if nobody is in.
I've also got a record of how many times they try and ring me with dates and times on the internet panel which is helpful for when I fire off any harassment letters.
Changing your number is an easier option but if you don't want to go to the trouble of informing people of your change and want more control over who you speak to then I highly recommend it.0 -
Hope you are rested NID and had a great bank holiday and so did everyone else.

Hi NID,
No need to apologise. You need some time off - good to know that you are human - as opposed to super-human!

Thanks Happiness,
I am England but I have managed to get a basic bank account with the Co-op. Just waiting for my first occupational pension to go into it before I cancel my HSBC stuff.
Thanks for the advice, though."What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

Thanks Locke,
Haven't yet got round to changing my number - I need to think of an excuse for telling my family and friends. I am still using the BT "choose to refuse" service but, as you say, I need to keep changing the list of "blocked" numbers.
Just a small question - I am NOT answering the phone to these people - haven't spoken to even one of them yet - I either let the machine pick it up (they never leave a message) or I just click the phone on and off again! I am not sure whether the fact that I don't actually speak to them still means that I can accuse them of hassle? I have checked the phone numbers and recorded the dates and times of the phone calls.
You are right about the different numbers they use, Locke. Quite crafty!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

Will be sorting out my dca letters and telephone pest letters later on. Its scary isnt it just a thought when nid said wait 14days for replies does that include weekends and bank hols or is it 14 working days. Probably he's answered that somewhere but was just wondering. Im beginning to wonder where he is too. Hope he hasnt been in contact with too much Kryptonite(beer)!!!!
Hi Jinny
It is 12 + 2 days which equates to 14 days (12 working days and the two sundays/non postal days).....
BUT we never do their jobs for them, that means we never send a reminder dead on time, we need them to prove they are inadequate and part of this means we give them a month to deal, in the first instance. Then send chasers after they are well in default.
Regards to the phone calls at work, this has to stop now - it is bordering illegal harassment. I'll sort you a letter to send, once you start to get replies to your CCA Requests....
Finally, regards to them writing to you at work - they cannot do this and would be hung, drawn and quartered if they attempted such tactics.
I'll stop the calls at work for you soon enough, just be patient for the time being..... its a pain I know, but other than lie there isn't that much more you can do.2010 - year of the troll
