Do what you can to avoid selling!
The problem, I suspect, isn't the level of debt that you're carrying, it's the level of income that you (don't really) have to service it. Selling won't increase your income. That's the bit to focus on far more tightly I think.
Good luck!

Hi H4nym,
of course we do not want to sell, but we have no choice. If only hubby managed to get well paid job, perhaps we could have remortgaged and saved the house.Debtfee from 20090 -
Hi people,
three estate agents came out and valued our house as follows: £285K
£320K
£330K
Sounds better, than what we thought it would be, as long as we find that client to pay that money for our lovely cottage.Debtfee from 20090 -
www.Upmystreet.co.uk, could give you some sort of idea how much houses in your area sold for, there are a few other sites that can give you the same information, login, enter your postcode and the information will come up in the search, at least it will give you some sort of idea which quote to go for, taking into account the final selling price, but be warned the data will be a couple of months out of date so allow for this.
I wonder why the first Agent came in £45K under the highest quote!
good luck!!Debt Free!!!0 -

Thank you for a link I will have a look. Yes, we are wondering too, why he came up with that figure. You just never know, what is on their minds. I did look on the right move website and in our area for £325K you do not get much, if the house is good, location isn't and other way around. Our house lucky for us is in a very good location and the house itself is lovely. Maybe £330K is right after all?Debtfee from 20090 -
Evening!
Another good site to try is www.nethouseprices.co.uk and you don't have to register. I always use them to look up prices of other houses/flats in a street and they go back a few years too. I used it to look up prices of other houses in my road after the agents had been round to compare prices.
Agents tend to come in within a certain range and it's not unusual to get a £45k difference between quotes, especially if it's a place that's a little unusual or there aren't too many of them in a street/area.0 -
D,
good news that it looks like enough to clear debts and a bit over. So all is not lost!!
Just keep a balance in your mind between a fair price and clearing debt.. don't be tempted to hang on out of greed... and make your plans based on the lowest quote. anything else is a bonus.
Hugs hon.

Hi Emmzi,
you couldn't be more right. The first thought was, "lets remortgage and keep the house" Two minutes later reality kicks in, and of course we know we can not do that even if hubby got the job, we would have been struggling.
I would love to clear all of the debts and buy a flat and be mortgage free or very little mortgage.:DDebtfee from 20090 -
Hi there,
if someone has been on benefits before, how long was it before you received money into your bank account? Hubby still have not received a penny. Also would they back date the payments?
Thank you.Debtfee from 20090 -
Hi there,
Hubby is talking about buying an apartment in Bulgaria as an investment, after all of the debt paid off of course. Has any one bought a property in Bulgaria or has any one got an opinion? I am scared that he is talking about it, after the results (see my signature) of his first investment expirience.Debtfee from 20090
