hey folks
this morning i popped into my local poundland dont usually but i thought i would anyway as i walked in the security guard was standing by the doorr i went and got my product and as i headed towards the tills he confronted me with a basket saying "take this basket, i replied no thanks i only have one item he then stated that he would be watching me as i look suspicious, i then stated that i wanted a member of the management team i spoke to the assisstant manager who said thet the security guards personal skill needed improving, then the manager said that he didnt mean it and i must bear with him as he doesnt speak very good english, i said well that really is not my problem. and walked out of the shop,
i called customer services and said that i wanted a written apology i was told that i would not receive one from them as the security firm is a contractor and essentially he is not 'their staff' i think it is
absolutely awful i wont be shopping there again in a hurry,
id rather pay the extra and go elsewhere

I don't worry about comments or looks from security guards any longer. This is because I have spent a lot of time at Boots picking up bargains. The security teams there have a tendency to follow you round a store. Actually I tend to spend a bit longer in the store as a result and will take them on a little tour.
I know that there are a few 'Boots tarts' who have become friendly with the security guards as a result.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

By his response he is probably being paid £1 an hour, probably a lot more than he is worth.
Go in next time and keep picking things up and asking him how much they are!0 -
He was just doing his job, its not his fault you looked shifty0

Ahhhh, poundland. If you have your trousers hanging around your backside and your knickers at your waist then I'd imagine you might feel at home.
Clearly if that isn't you, the damn place simply isn't worth the hassle. I hate the bloody place. Usually when I'm walking past and think, "Ah yes," I usually end up just dumping whatever I've picked up on the closest shelf to the checkout.
As for security guards, had one in Staples a few weeks back so I asked him if he was following me. Ending up chatting for about 15-mins, was a lovely guy, Richard, from Africa, moved here about 2-years ago with his family, from London, he was up here for the week, hates working in the Tesco-one-stops in London. Oh and he was single too.......0 -

I go into my local tesco and sainsburys maybe once every 2 weeks and the security guards there always follow me about  They even go outside when i'm loading my shopping into my car.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

I do like Poundland, but on the occasions when they have particularly good bargains, they tend to sell out quickly.
The one near me has a big sign saying "You will need a basket", which tends to make me think the opposite if I'm only going for one thing. If the sign said something like "For security reasons, we request that all customers use a basket", then I'd be happy to comply.0 -
If the rules say you should use a basket then do so. The cost of theft, or shoplifting, is covered by increased prices for all. If using a basket helps to reduce the theft, that will benefit us all.
As for the security guard's minimal interpersonal skills - perhaps we all need to be a little more tolerant of each other.

ive been in shops and not used a basket and no ones questioned it, poundland surely would pass on the complaint to the firmNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
