OS Daily Thread - Monday 1st March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 1st March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Wakey wakey OS lovelies,
Pinch, punch the first of the month and all that!
Nic1lou2- I hope you have a really good day!
I have two dwarf cherry trees on order and might just give in and buy a dwarf apple too but am trying not to spend money so it might have to wait til next year.

. Good to have you with us. You had a very busy day with all that cooking, well done you!
Bitsy - Yes hon, the pain is from where the rib punctured the lung and they had to operate and patch it up and also break a few more ribs around that area. Every breath he takes is painful and the lung isn't inflating as well as it should as yet.
Tiredmum - Glad that talking to your son went better than you had feared.
Hester - Oh I love Val McDirmid! Haven't read all of them yet though have watched the TV adaptations many a time as my OH has the box set.
Flutterby - Glad you had a good time with the girls at the movies.
sistercas - You are right, Blueberries are not self fertilizing, so anyone buying them needs to get two unless like you they have a neighbour with some!
Julie - thanks for putting the lights out!

Had a lovely lazy Sunday with a roast dinner using up some odd pork steaks (for me) and lamb chops for my OH. (I don't eat lamb in any way shape or form.) We had fresh pineapple for dessert, it was so juicy and delicious!
Hoping the shower engineer will ring today and maybe even turn up (I DO believe in miracles!). I have to pin my OH down as well and get the finances up to date as we are in a new month now. I feel like we loosened the purse strings a tad too much the last 10 days or so.. I haven't anything to back that up but hopefully once I have all the receipts I can see for myself.
Breakfast will be toasted Weetabix loaf - lunch will be luncheon meat sandwiches (my OH 'fancied' it and bought two pkts over the weekend.. Hmmmm) and dinner will be something with mince - I haven't quite decided yet so will just cook a huge pan of it and then work out what to do with it later.

I hope everyones week starts well. With love and light for all.

Good morning everyone - fingers crossed for your shower man Diva. This is going to be the month where I actually look at the figures. I know we're reasonably OK, but I've been signing up to the OS things and not really looking at the amounts I'm spending.
So this month I'll do it. Have a freezer to empty and lots to keep me busy. So will let you know how I do!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning.
Back to work today, plenty to do.

Diva I do hope you get your shower fixed today, I would be lost without mine.
I am going to have a look at my spending on shopping for last month as I think I went a bit over due to DD wanting extra for her GCSE cooking (she cooked some fancy bits last month ie, mushroom pate
)
Not much on today, just have to return some book to the libarary and clean through ths house
as I did nothing cleaning wise over the wkend.
Dinner tonight will be the chicken I had planned for yesterday I managed to cook it in the sc then stripped it and put in fridge. I will do a stock with the bones today too.
Im just finishing my 2nd coffee then off to wake the house and run around sorting them for work and school.
Hope everyone has a great day
Kind wishes and hugs to all

:j:jHave a great day Nic1lou2:j:j
So glad February is over with :T evenings are getting a little lighter and hopefully we can have some milder and drier weather! March is also my getting organised month - going to do it this time!
Office work this morning, ironing this afternoon (sounds like Groundhog day). Need to check on DD this morning as she had a high temperature yesterday and I fully expect her to be home today.
As we had a late lunch yesterday didn't have roast chicken for dinner so we are having that tonight. Have Tesco's coming this morning with a large order and have menu planned for the whole week:)
Today is the day that we find out which senior school DS is going too, hope its the same as DD.
Off now - need another cuppa.x0 -
Good morning

Diva Hope that the shower man comes today for you
NicLou Happy Birthday!
Hester Hope you get things sorted with DH xx
Up a little easier this morning and have already swished the kitchen & bath over. Going to polish soon then start getting ready. I made a pack of 12 muffins/bread cakes/rolls (depending which part of the country you're reading in lol! up into sandwiches yesterday so that should keep me going for a while :T
Tea tonight is an easy one of beans & poached eggs on toast followed by fruit salad. I also want to make some banana muffins later on as I have a glut of them that nobody is eating. The chicken carcase from yesterday is in the fridge too I'll make the stock when I've picked the remains off it for the cats as there's never enough left for a meal here. DH has a leg & a wing for his lunch today.
Have a good day all &
wherever needed. 0 -
Morning all,
Very cold here this morning, sharp frost, I see France got the worst of the storms yesterday, they got what we were meant to have, poor things.
Day off today, I need to tidy round, and give everything a good clean, I have a wash to do too.
I need to do some baking, I might do a victoria sponge, and look at the food/ shopping situation, see of I need to order anything with Mr s.
I need to do a third coat on the kitchen, but not sure I will get round to that today, Taplady sorry to hear I have inspired you with the decorating
, I am sure you will be cursing me by the end of it.
Dinner tonight will be something involving the rest of the chicken from yesterday, I might do a fried rice, with loads of veg in.
Hope everyone gets the school admissions they wanted today xx
Nic :bdaycake:have a very Happy Birthday xx0 -
Hi everyone, I had the most awful nights sleep. I was just sooooooo tired as was my partner that i kept snoozing the alarm this morning. I was awful too tired to get out of bed and let the puppy out so have woken up to two poos and countless wees!
Am hiding on the laptop in the dining room in the hope that my bf cleans them up but there is no noise from the bedroom yet so he's probably hiding as I am.
Great this will have put the puppy training back to where we were.
At least we have chicken soup tonight with crusty bread - both homemade yesterday for tea!Trying to save money and always open to ideas and expecting our first child in March 2015.0 -

Morning all
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
Dry and bright here this morning, but not sure about temperature as haven't ventured outside just yet. OH had an early start but I managed to go back to sleep after his alarm had gone off.
Not really sure where the weekend went, went out for dinner on Saturday night with a group of friends, food was nice but nothing exceptional. Yesterday we were out most of the day at a caravan club meeting as we are heavily involved with that, so hadn't unfortunately meal planned very well as went we got back finished up ordering chinese as hadn't got anyhing organised. This is my problem, all week I am super organised it's just the weekends that are letting me down so will now be trying to get that sorted. Tonights dinner is smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce. Did manage to get some baking done on Saturday but haven't done as much as normal so may have to do some more Wed/Thurs.
Not much OS to report, so now going to pop off to get ready for work, booo.........!
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
