This is my 3rd week of doing this and it is so much easier to keep on top of it. Doesn't take anywhere near as long:) DH is starting to worry that the TV will have been put on freecycle by the time he gets home though along with the rest of the house:rotfl:Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -

Trying to work... updating something written before I went on leave. I've forgotten stuff and it's annoying me. As is the laptop, which keeps losing the wireless signal, but it's too d*mned cold to move out of the sitting room (stove is on). Actually, it's cold in here too... feet are cold in sheepskin boots, and I'm wearing a hat and scarfCan't wait for the engineer to come back tomorrow...

Pink-winged I hope your family stop being annoying soon. Good idea to take it out on the housework!
Kazw I love that story about the old man and the burglars, that’s so funny!
Dora well done on inspiring your colleagues to tidy up!
Ashia I hope you feel better soon
Valli and Julie I hope your observation went well today
Helen, yes it does feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, it’s wonderful going to sleep/waking up without loads of clutter around the bed! It’s so fab! One of the ladies said she is coming back next month to see if I’ve kept it like that! Definitely am going to!
Rachel, sorry the receptionist was so horrible. Do you have an option to leave that surgery/complain about the service you received? I never get it when people are rude to those they are meant to be helping. It makes me realise how nice the ladies are in my surgery, they are often v busy and it can take a while for the receptionists to get to serve you but they always do so with a smile and nice friendly attitude.
I'm behind with the thread, apologies. I went out today which was lovely and since then I've been doing some work - lots of new things in my shops today!
I'm really tired this evening, but have enjoyed the day. I plan to do lots of flying tomorrow, hoovering, washing up and finding homes for the things we found when tidying under the bed."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Hi all
Just dropping in to let you know I'm still alive! Busy week so far, had an awful sleepless night on Monday but last night was better. Ready for bed now though so I can catch up on the rest of the sleep I lost
I've only read a couple of pages back but seems that someone is struggling with getting the lists done. I work full time and commute 1.5 hours each way. Rarely get any of the lists done in the week now but do get a fair bit done at the weekends. DH does some too. Mainly we are lucky as we manage to keep it tidy and not too cluttered which is half the battle, so it just needs the flylady touch. I don't get as many stars as when I lived alone and worked from home, but am still happy with my home.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Mumof2 - I cant find your original post, but see from the others replies that you are juggling to fit it all in!
I work full time and have DS and a dog (insert roll eyes smilie).
My day typically consists of......
- Get up
- Shower (swishing toilet before I go in and shower while Im in there - if needed)
- LO has breakfast while I straighten/declutter LR and kitchen
- Fill a sink for dishes if there is any.
- Make lunches whilst telling DS to hurry up and finish his breakfast.
- Feed dog and flick him into the back garden
- Go upstairs (with hoover/duster/stuff, which get dumped in that days room)
- LO gets dressed
- I strip bedding/soft furnishings off whichever room it is that day
- I tell LO to hurry up and get dressed and I get dressed
- Swish the bathroom whilst brushing teeth, gathering up anything thats been dumped as I go.
- Take any gathered laundry downstairs and put wash on, take any rubbish out and let dog back in
- Do some dishes if there are any.
- go to work
I know it sounds like a lot, but its not once you get into the routine and by the time I leave for work everyday, the house is reasonably tidy, rubbish is out, the dishes are done so Im not walking in the door to an absolute pit when I come home again.
When I come home from work
- I switch WM over to TD or hang up if I have time.
- put another wash on if needed
- grab dog and walk to school to get DS. If I dont have time, I pick up DS then we go home for the dog, then...
- go via field/park etc on the way home so they are both out for about an hour or so.
- come home, fill sink and start doing homework with DS then put tea (or vice versa depending on whats for tea)
- I try to do dishes as I go so there isnt a huge pile.
- I go to the room of the day and set the timer for half an hour. The stuff is already in there from the morning, so I just start getting on with it. And I always take a bin bag.
- hoover, dust/deweb, polish, clean glass, and wipe woodwork is the jist of the lists, so I try to at least aim for that. (you will be surprised what you can do in 30 mins)
- Get LO ready for bed and do reading.
- If the room of the day still needs some more doing, I try to do another 15 - 30 mins after LO is in bed
- If not, I go back to the kitchen and do tea dishes etc and get clothes ready for the next day.
Again it sounds like a lot, but its not really.
You just need to find a routine that work for you...... and thats what works for me. You will note that there is no time for the PC on there!! :rotfl:
I must admit when I came on today, I thought is was fab that the whole list was up - if I had a choice I would have the whole list in advance every weekNudge, nudge, wink, wink Pigpen??

Have been really cheered up by all the people coming on saying we don't have to get stars - feel like I can get a few in the holidays and maybe grab one at a weekend but realistically full time work, 1 icklie and one 8 year old, work to be done at home as well and the need for sleep/food/baths etc means that the house will always be way down the priority list - at least I can look at the lists and start getting a few little things tackled if dh does the level 1s.
The alternative is to farm dh and kids off to his parents for a few years while I get time to sort the house out (in my pjs from about 6pm - and with a large glass of wine in hand) I also like the idea of the full list going up, just so I can laugh hysterically at it all for longer!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
