How do you fit it in?

I work full-time and just can't be bothered with it and am not interested. But I kind of feel why should I do it all? DH does do the washing up, but expects me to do the rest. I do do it sometimes, but i get sick of keeping the place tidy when he can't be bothered to sort his own things out.

    How do you all cope?

Well first, I'd give the OH a slap!!:p

Then, I second kazwookie and say join us on Pigpens Flylady thread. Make sure you give OH a list of chores too! Bribe and blackmail as needed!

    Hi Liz,

There's an earlier thread with some ideas that might help so I've added your thread to it.

As others have said the regulars on the flylady thread will give you lots of support and this thread may help too:

Why does he expect you to 'do the rest'?

    Has he said that?

He does tend to work longer hours than me and earns twice what I do, so the housework falls to me by default. I have tried asking him to tidy up after himself, which works for about a week then it goes back. I admit I'm not the tidiest person either, but I just get fed up when he doesn't do his bit.

:o I'm a Flylady .... it does work! :D Haven't looked at the thread on here but I follow the website. I had to unsubscribe from emails though....got sick of being told umpteen times a day to 'put on your shoes'....'drink your water'....'what's for dinner?'....'shine your sink'....bla bla bla!

I do recommend it though ... it gets you organised.....Oh God! It's Monday tomorrow - Weekly House Blessing!!!!!!!!!

If he works longer hours than you do, then spend that extra time that he's at work cleaning, so that the time you have together can be spent doing fun things. Surely? Not sure what you are complaining about!

It's not the time thing, really. It's as much about the motivation to actually do it when he doesn't make much of a effort to keep his stuff tidy..

If he won't sort his stuff out LEAVE IT! Develop a mental block to his clutter and icky pants.

if you put it as your OH 'helping' you then this implies it is your job.

Start doing what you need for yourself and he ought to notice when he runs out of clean clothes/cant find that important letter and so on...!!!

But he works longer hours and earns twice as much.

Should the OP lie on the sofa and watch TV when she gets home, then when he arrives back from work they share it out?

Anyone who knows me would put me down as a loud-mouthed feminist, but if your partner works longer hours than you do, use that time to do the boring stuff - then at the weekends you can have fun together, with no dreary housework stuff to do. This works whether man or woman works longer hours!

Not a man/woman thing - just sensible, surely?
