This is not a compition so why have you posted it here it might be best in "the compers inn" https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2588961Can't sleep, quit counting sheep and talk directly to the shepherd :cool:0

Savannah, there is a compers Inn and also a discussion thread to post in - posting here just causes BG's more work as they will have to move it.
When you get a moment, read the wonderful Comping Guide by Velvet Glove which is a sticky at the top here.Thank you all who post.0 -

It seems to be dupe city going back over the boards last few weeks, If people couldn't access/post on this board till they read VG's guide it might help, but i know thats not feasible.
It slows u down but u have to read every post in a thread to make sure u r not duping as i saw on quite a few the mention of the post being a dupe was surrounded by many posts working out answers etc, shame we couldn't have a dupe button!!! that could highlight in the title it's a dupe etc xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
part of the problem is yoiu have to search so many ways to see if its already been posted. every single time i search and think something has been posted its been a dupe. a keyword search generally pulls up pages and pages of threads, one of which might be the one im looking for, a url search often returns no results......tbh thats why i dont bothe rposting comps i find that i think arent posted yet, every time i ahve tried they are and that creates more work for the board guides, and upsets people if they enter twice.....which is understandable.
its also why i think its easier to search one thread to see if something has been posted....simple to click on search this thread on postal thread eg and find what ytour looking for rather than search the whole board to find a needle in a haystack.
reading the comping guide is all very well, but ive read it numerous times and still 9 out of 10 searches i do and comps i attempt to post are dupes. i know certain people tend to post certain comps, so i can leave them even if it means its aday later they go up. others i will seach every day a couple fo times a day for 2-3 days before i risk posting them now...and mostly i go to that much bother so i know i ahve entered already instead of taking the risk of disqualifying myself when it does eventually show up here. its not that i dont want to share comps with everyone, but that its too time consuming and requires me to remember for too long a period of time and i feel like a really selfish bithch for example by entering the facebook comps which i share on my wall but not posting them here. if there was a better way to search and actually find stuff id be way more willing to take the 5misn required to do so and post, but i cant be doing with being yelled at for posting a dupe, nor creating more work for board guides and contributing to their inboxes getting full of merge requests, i feel far too guilty then.0 -
Not a bad idea toniq. It does make me wonder though when I post is flagged as a dupe & someone comes along & posts the answer up or gives the link for it.I'd prefer if it was left alone to save confusion.0

I've always searched by chopping the url PCL,
so for http://milkshake.five.tv/pages/flamingo-land-competition?page=2
I would search milkshake.five.tv
For http://www.babyexpert.com/Competitions-&-Offers/LAST-CHANCE-TO-VOTE-IN-THE-PRIMA-BABY-READER-AWARDS/v1
I would search babyexpert
What that pretty much means is I take the www. and .co.uk off the url, as those parts throw the search also make sure child forums are ticked as that covers the sub forums xxx
I always use the advanced search, chopping the url rarely fails, if it is a popular name ie
mirror, i'll also do an answer search.

Hi all
I received an email today from a website where comps are frequently posted on here.
From this email it seems that they filter out people who enter the comps regularly so they do not have a chance of winning....are they allowed to do this?
It would also be nice to know how they decide who's entry to disregard.
Here is the email:Hi,
Thank you for entering our competition to win Tiesto in Victoria Park tickets for tomorrow (30th July).
Due to a number of users who persistently enter our competitions whether they intend to attend our events or not (you know who you are) we can never be sure who we can choose as legitimate winners.
Therefore, if anyone wants to attend this event, please email me back straight away and you will be put on the guestlist (and I will send you more information about the event).
Winners will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.
You must also be over 18.
We're really sorry to have to do this, but other than banning these users, which we don't think will solve the problem, we don't have much choice!
Thanks
Surely this is discrimination based solely on their suspicions...how would they know if an entrant intended to attend an event or not?2010: £86040
