Just popping in to say "Hi" to everyone (as per Nids comment) and to wish you all a Good Week :)

Not much happening at my end aside from this months CC statements notifying me that I'm now in arrears and piling on interest and every charge available to them and warning me that I will be defaulted.
    Que sera sera!

Tis a scary and un-natural feeling but I'm learning to deal with it, especially as it releases extra funds to cover basics such as food and bills without robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Anyways, Good Karma being passed onto all us Debt Free Wannabees!

    hiya Utopia

gosh reading your message just brought back my feelings over 2 years ago, yes most of mine been defaulted now, some even closed as per creditors but only ventured court with one out of about 15 creditors, where i responded with an embarrased defense and where they have tried to get me to admit to the debt without supplying me with a copy of the default notice and an application form for a well clothing store hm,,, this one has just been left limbering, no payments made and well hoping a few more years be statute barred or i have to do something to get it resolved, but for now just dealing with all the paperwork that occasionaly hits me - yes the early months once you dont pay you will be inudated, and thats why i so wish i had met this thread then as after reading niddys first few pages, i realise i panicked and got myself worked up and it did affect my health, so if anything i can offer to you and others is first please relax, really try and read the first pages of niddys thread to get a feel and even jot down exactly where you are with each creditor, i guess like a timeline progress, and ask for help and if you dont mind getting credit ever again, or if its not important for your job or for a new mortgage or loan, then the defaults will delete after 6 years anyway,,,

just my take on it, but the letters are really scare tactics, just shout out loud if you ever do get a court summons like i did, but so far not seen inside a court, i have for other friends but not for me yet,,:)

Hi Utopia and Maz and everyone else, especially Niddy.!

We are at the very beginning and as you say its very scary. We sent CCA requests 3 weeks ago to 6 creditors. 1 has replied and from the others........nothing, nada... 2nd letters are ready to go over the course of next week.

Its like sitting on a time bomb, waiting for something to happen.!! I read all the posts on Niddy's thread, and have even worked my way through the previous 2 threads. I will learn what to expect and I will learn as much as I can, but I will also be glad when its sorted. Its nice to have Niddy here to ask advice, but its also nice to hear from other folks who have gone down this road.

    Thanks everyone

    Thanks for this maz, utopia:T
For anyone who thinks this is a gas they've lost their minds.
I feel the same as you guys. Every so often the fear hits you and you really have to fight to keep going:o
I've been struggling with debt since early 2008 and its come to a head this year. Youre right Maz its a funny feeling to not pay the bills as they drop through the letter box when its something youve always done. It hits you every now and then - where you are and whether you will get over it. Its so hard to see a way out of it but reading this thread makes me see that there is life after debt. :j
Dont get me wrong i know its all self inflicted but I think I've paid over and above with my santiy for 2 years!:(
At least I'm doing something now and have a measure of control thanks to NID and this thead.:A:A
Anyway its good to know I'm not alone

thanks for your responces, i just wanted to add also that early days i really did try very hard to get into discussion with my creditors , even visiting cab, nationaldebtline using all the templates available, but it was like the defaults landed fairly quickly and the hassle i got from the phone calls after id sent info off and when different depts denied my early calls with them and my letters etc, i got to a point that i had to stop the phone calls and got myself truecall, i know you can just change your number but for me this past year really has saved me from the brink of no return, it really had got that bad and i was under medical care too, and when hbos more or less laughed at the copy id sent from my medical advisor as they had not dated it, i felt it was the last straw and i took time out to read up on everything, i did initially come across other sites and areas of self help, but finally having found niddys thread its all making sense to me now,

so its not an easy way out, far from it to those who read this and may think its a cop out, but the way i was treated just highlighted it more that i was to investigate my rights and make sure the creditors didnt make me believe something for something else.

so keep positive, read and learn as much as you can for yourself but always come back here and check and take advice before you write that letter - oh yes no calls to your creditors or from them if you can, ALL in writing, this way its all recorded and shows your paper trail, the law will always looks at the facts,

hi NID,i,ve been reading most of the posts, nice to see some have had success i,ve just got a couple of questions,

    1. ive read in the news lately that all these "wipe your debts" are not enforceable anymore due to a court case not so long back that stopped people doing it, or maybe not stopping them but the chances r very very slim? and have closed the loophole, unless i read it wrong, i assume what people are trying to do on here is the same sort of thing?

    2. what happens when u send the final letter off to them, and they still insist on payments? whats the next course of action if any? or they continue to send letters after passing the debt on to another, or worse still a baliff turns up at your door in person, what would one do then?

    3. by doing this is your house at risk at all (i live with parents)

    thanks in advance

Weirdo automated Barclaycard axe-murderer-voice is currently taking up about 100 spaces on my home voicemail LOL. I'm just about to print off another letter re. the harrassment.

I haven't made a payment for over a year though and i've only just started this process, so it's not new for me LOL.

Makes a difference knowing your not alone though. Its not something I want to discuss with people as it feels so shameful coz its something I caused. But here you are not judged about the cause just people focussing on the solution.:T

Anyway wallowing over, onwards and upwards!!:j

    But thanks for your experiences:T:T:T:T
