After all the positiveness I'm having a rubbish day today :(
DH received his payslip, £196 short. He had 3 days off sick back at the beginning of Feb that I had forgotten about (he only gets SSP when off sick). That has completely ruined my budget for this month, DH and step-DS going to Amsterdam for U16's tour at easter and the budget was maxed out already....I am now £196 short

Some companies really don't value their employees and just bleed them dry....this has now got me worried for later in the year. DH has to have a prolapsed disk operated on and recovery could be 2 weeks to 6 months   2 weeks on SSP will be damaging enough, 6 months doesn't bear thinking about :(

Make it a challenge - work out how much he would lose and start putting extra MSE money aside towards covering it. So, work out how much difference if he is off 2 weeks 3 weeks, a month etc, then set yourself targets.

Hopefully, then, he will be back to work fairly quickly, and you will have some left over to do something else with, but if he takes time to recover, it won't be so hard.

Thank you hypno, another incentive for us to move our butts and get on with ebaying and matched betting.

Dum dum dum another one bites the dust......

Lost another lb this week :j

Just done our monthly shop which came in at £201 exactly!. All we should need for the rest of the month is fruit and veg and maybe a little more dog food but with £250 still left in the budget I should be able to bring that in less and put some aside for DH's 'sickness' pot :)

:T That's the spirit :) It sounds like you could easily put away extra if you focused on the MBing.
Well done on the weight loss too!

I'm only in month 2 of the 'all in not burying head, singing and dancing budgeting with everyone on board' and already my figures are going up instead of down .

Right. Did my first matched bet this evening. Should lock in £9.40 profit......first of a long line of MB's to pay off the debt and build up the 'sickness pot'

Got my £85 from ebay (paypal) today. Have transferred £35 straight off a card. Going to keep the other £50 to one side for now for the matched betting. When I've built that up a bit I will pay if off the debt. Hopefully DH's credit card bill should come in in the next couple of days and I can update my sig.

Busy weekend again. Step-DS going for a place in the army so have to go buy him running trainers tomorrow, £50 in the budget for them but I don't think that will be enough...we'll see :(
    College again on Sunday

    Enjoy your weekend everyone

College on a Sunday is doable with my current 'failure is not an option' attitude. But college on Sunday after the clocks have gone forward seems to be more of an uphill struggle than normal! Only 3 hours to go then home time!!!

Yesterday's running trainers were professionally fitted in a running shop near us and came in at £80. Only £30 over budget and essentially covered by the paypal money. Step-DS was really good, once they had the right fit the guy gave him 2 or 3 options and he went for the second cheapest (cheapest £70) "cause I know I cost a lot of money at the best of times and I'm only running in these trainers, not going out with my mates" :o. (He's 16, has size 11 feet and is about 5' 7" so clothes aren't the cheapest!) Love him, he knows we're being sensible with our money as we have a 'little bit' of debt but i didn't expect that. So not too bad a day all in all.
