Had quite a discussion with DH this morning about how well we've done with the budget this month and it was all good :T. I'm hoping he actually took it all on board and it will continue but lets take one day at a time
.
Pay day is Thursday (6 days) and we have £87 left in the bank to accommodate a £60 Virgin Media bill and this weeks food shopping which really is just fruit, veg and squash :j:j
I'm sooo chuffed and almost managed to hit target cash made to continue on the path of credit card and overdraft free by Christmas :j:j
Weekend will consist of Sportrelief and homemade pizzas tonight
Housework and then round a friends tomorrow night for a good catch up
More diggind at the allotment and planting out on Sunday
NSD weekend here we come!

Nelmer! Just catching up on your thread! I too am a qualified accountant - CA! I give other people advice on how to handle billions/millions of pounds and cant handle my own! My problem was that whilst i was studying i though once i got those infamous letters i would be a billionaire...turns out yes you get paid more...but in my case not enough to clear the debt i had racked up by that point!
Whats the saying 'Do as i say not as i do?!?!'
PLUS the best dentist and hair dressers are usually the ones who don't have good hair etc as someone else has done theirs for them!0 -
P.S HIGH FIVE on making target this month!

Enjoy Sports Relief, I saw the bike ride last night which was good.
Looking forward to hearing about the allotment. A veg patch is defo on my wish list when we move.
Payday for me too on Thursday - counting down the days!0 -
Completely off track but wondering if you lovely people would depart some pearls of wisdom.
Step DS is 16. His girlfriend is staying at our house tonight as her mother is away for the weekend and she has fallen out with her 18 year old sister. Last weekend her mother stayed at her boyfriends friday night and the kids had a house party complete with alchol and puking .
My question is: would you say something to the mother (we know her but only to say hello to) or just keep quite and support DS's girlfriend........I'm torn
Any pearls of wisdom gratefully received

hi nelmer, just found your diary and so many things are the same for me....
i love scrapbooking (this is one of my vices which i spend on)
we have just got an allotment, and OH keeps buying stuff for it, even though we have stuff.
much of my debt has been run up getting my qualification ACMA. the worst of it was during the years i was trying to keep a company's head above water cashflow wise, you would have thought i should have known better.
How is your allotment going? ours was a right state when we got it, covered in grass etc, hadn't been done for a few years. We've got 8/10 beds now but they need turning again and the weeds killing/ removed. Need to start getting some seeds in pots though in the greenhouse at home.0 -
Oh Lemon Tree the simaliarities are uncanny! come along for the ride!!!
Scrapbooking is one of my vices but I find by going to a local crop once a month (£5 all day) I do the class which is usually another £2 - £3 and then just take page plans and no other money!!! I get my fix, I get a little bit of new stash and I actually get some scrapbooking done! Are you a member of UKScrappers?
I have been doing my ACCA on and off for 13 years now  but I have changed jobs 3 times, moved house twice and got married
I have 3 exams left and am determined to finish them....failure is not an option :rotfl:
We (I say we but it's DH's allotment and I am the hired help, me and gardening or cooking are not a good combination
) are really lucky our allotment used to be a farmers field (hay last year) and it is in really good condition with no weeds. We've turned over 1/3 and have raspberries and strawberries in at the moment. Early potaotes and rhubarb crowns going in tomorrow and then a lot of seeds onto windowsills and into the plastic greenhouse tomorrow afternoon (peas, tomatoes, runner beans, lettue, cucumber).
Quite chuffed I saved a few pennies today. The heel broke on my work boots yesterday but instead of a new pair i had them re-toed & heeled for the bargain price of £12......will take me just over this months budget but saved a fortune :j
Please don't be disillusioned by my gardening knowledge, it's all DH's knowledge and I'm just copying it

Had a Flylady style day today :T.....did a good detailed clean to get the house upto scratch. Made a list of daily jobs so step DD can start pulling her weigh instead of the usual 'you didn't tell me what needed doing' (in her best whiny 18 year old voice!)
Hopefully have a bit of time to get in the loft tomorrow for a bit of free ebay listing before going to the allotment!
Off for a shower and then a good girlie gossip for the rest of the evening :rotfl:

Nelmer, I would probably not say anything to the Mum this time, but would let DS and his girlfriend know that as a responsible adult next time you will have to tell all.
In all honesty, any 16 year old left in the house all night will always have some sort of party, so I'd imagine the Mother would have had an inkling anyway.....Hope that helps
