    Hmm! 'Interesting' suggestions !!

Maybe just removing the silly "Silver Savers" bit and leaving it as
"Over-50's Money Saving" would be to-the-point, objective, inoffensive and non-judgemental.

Although I suppose all the other age groups could start clamouring for their own 'special' boards too!

    I think so too!

Sorry Bronnie, didn't realise you'd already suggested it :o

I'm not sure other age groups would be clamouring for their own special boards, but as over 50's covers 60 years, potentially, let 'em try :D

My Gran was 105¾ when she passed away a few years ago. She taught all 3 of my children to skip when she was in her early nineties and only slowed down in the last 3 years of her life.

I agree with the people who've said age is an attitude and can be attributed to those much younger than their years.

I'll be 61 this year and don't feel even remotely elderly - especially when I hear a Beatles song on the radio :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • I must admit I've noticed this to be the case in men more than women.
My husband started to feel sorry for himself and "feel old" as he put it when he realised his 50th was approaching but me being me told him he had better shape up as I had no intention of getting old without a fight.
As I have an 86 year old mother who is so fit she can put us both to shame he's had second thoughts and seems to have dropped the idea that he's passed his best.
I may intend to grow old gracefully but I also intend to have a shed load of fun along the way.

    MY husband is 61 tomorrow.

He still weighs the same as when we married over 38 years ago (wish I did :( ).

He still has loads of curly hair , although it is now more blonde than auburn (but not grey).

He still walks in the mountains, swims, surfs and kayaks.

He still helps 'old ladies' with their shopping.

He still makes me laugh and I still fancy him.

    Am I lucky? You bet!

Nevil Shutes' book 'The Pied Piper' opens with the words 'An elderly man of 70...' or some such, I remember being particularly taken aback by this when I read it and thinking that's really not my idea of 'elderly.' But then I come from long living stock and my ninety year old father has only just given up his motorbike due to the behaviour of other drivers.

Hmm I was thinking may be Silver Savers is no longer appropriate for our age group. Personally I have brown hair streaked with shades of red and dark brown at the moment.
  • I dont think 'elderly' is an age...both my parents are in their 60s and are zipping around at warp speed! My 95 yr old Gramps is online, drives his car to the local shops, has an allotment, has full health and is completely independent...I'm not sure I'd call him 'elderly' either!

Hope this runs in the family!

So what word should be used for people who are past middle age? I prefer older person, but there may be objections to that.
