  • Thanks guys, I do feel quite pleased with myself even if I say so myself. I'm seriously thinking about starting on one of the bigger debts soon. I owe Next over £900 and Abbey credit card £1700, if I could clear one of these I'd be thrilled. The amounts seems massive when you've not got money spare doesn't it?

Yes it does but then again clearing that will do wonders for your debt total.................others like to clear small debts because its motivating, I am the opposite, I am concentrating on biggest debt because I want overall balance down, I guess its a personal choice and whatever works the debt is still decreasing!

Well done on clearing your first debt, I love that feeling see a NIL balance. Have a look and see how much interest you are paying it was those numbers that shocked me into clearing my very account and then my next account.
Do what works for you I will be cheering you along all the way

The high of clearing one debt is quite often followed by a low as you start from scratch on the next one.

    Keep battling on x

  • Hi, sorry to hear you're having a bad day, hope you feel better soon.

If you don't mind i thought i'd suggest a different way of looking at the bigger accounts (i'm doing it with additions).

Instead of looking at the overall balance (which is quite daunting), i look at each purchase i've made on the account and pay for them individually. Paying £14.00 for a top and £25.00 for a pair of shoes seems a lot more manageable than trying to chip away at £2,000. It makes you feel like you are making progress.

    Take care

    xx

  • Thanks xx michelle xx trouble is the debt is so old I can't remember what I bought. I've been paying the debt back at £5 per month for over a year. I'm still waiting for £65 off Quidco and approximately £18 from music magpie so that'll clear a nice little bit off the Brilliant Gift Co and will leave me a balance of about £15. I'm still feeling a bit down about the debt, it's only because I'm skint and got nothing spare to make extra payments. It's so frustrating.....

  • Have sold a book today and had an e-mail off MusicMagpie saying they are sending my £8 cheque out tomorrow. Have already got a cheque for £6 to pay in so will pay them both in together. Have also listed another 3 items on E-bay so quite a productive night :)
