i've just checked and you're right - i'm sure it used to be more though. when i first started getting it i checked and compared with other brands.
well i'll look around again next time, but the cat's got 15kg to munch through first.0 -
Most of the Hills Science variants (but not all, check the ingredients) are in the region of 50% meat content so a decent food IMO. However it is £5+ a kilo at full price, which means you can get more meat for your money; if you can find Hills Science on a two-for-one it's a great MSE purchase. :money: At one time you could download a £5 voucher from the website, but sadly that can't be used with multibuy offers. I wouldn't personally touch Hills with a bargepole as they are a Colgate-Palmolive brand (animal testing) but you may not have the same concerns.
They are doing alot of deals on dried foods (still). I only bought Hills Science in the past when vets recommended the dental & then the sensitive but was unhappy with the additives/meat content. Subsequently when they were doing 2 for 1 @ Pets at Home I checked the makeup on other varieties of Hills and they seemed to have improved so I got some. However I still prefer Burns - now of course my two are getting wet 50-75% of the time nowadays (after Chi's urinary probs).0 -
We use James Wellbeloved - the turkey and rice is favourite and we've given up buying separate kitten as the two cats switch from bowl to bowl. Our older cat has a bit of a sensitive tum and this suits him fine along with some wet food (Felix is fine but Royal Canin upsets him along with others) plus cooked turkey or chicken. We often find there are special offers on the James Wellbeloved either from P@H or our local pet shop or online. I think it's trial and error finding what suits your animals at a reasonable price. The Purely is ok too but only tried the wet food.0

When we get to P@H will have a look round for the specials. Decided to go in rather than order so we can get an idea what the one in Feltham is like and what it stocks.DFD February 2012

Does anyone know how much the p@h purely 70% chicken is?
I know the normal purely salmon flavour has chicken in it.
does anyone know if the more meat salmon flavour also has chicken in it?
one of my cats are intolerant of it - you would be surprised how many non chicken flavour cat foods have chicken in them grrrr!!!0 -

When you say intolerant, do you mean it's a full on allergy? Did you have to do an exclusion diet to diagnose it? If not an allergy you might also try your cat on a tiny bit of raw chicken, the proteins change with cooking so they may digest raw and cooked versions of a meat differently.

hence nearly all pet food has it in it - esp the cheaper stuff0 -

when i 1st got billy he had upset stomach for weeks and the vet kept on giving him special food (chicken) and sending him off. then i went back after nearly a month of this and one of the vets just clicked and said stop feeding anything with chicken and see what happens. and after 1 day he was pretty much better!!
i think it was a lucky guess but i have tried to reintroduce chicken in many forms into his diet and it always results in the upset tum.
ps at the moment i am feeding jwb which is good but i could get better i think0
