I wouldn't feed IAMS as it's previously been linked to high incidences of FLUTD (cystitis). There are so many different foods on the market it's a minefield trying to select one to feed your cats and everyone will recommend a different brand because their Fido or Trixie is doing fabulously well on it.

My personal recommendations would be to look at the Royal Canin diets as they have a vast range of products to suit all ages of cats for all occasions, and are excellent quality.

so i might go back to that one as she likes that just woundering how it ranks with peeps?
  • I feed my cat pets at home Purely food. The dry kitten food has 2 varieties, 40% meat and 70% meat. Good prices too.
The higher the meat content of cat food the better. She's almost a year and had no health problems so far, her coat is lush and she loves it.

    Weekly spend £0/£50
    Sealed pot £3.15
  • It is not recommended to feed cats an entirely dry diet. Being desert species, they don't tend to drink as much as they ought to and an all-dry diet is linked to a high incidence of bladder problems in cats. I would definitely feed at least a mixture of dry and wet food.

As far as dry foods go, Orijen is a good brand which is high in meat and contains no grains or cereals. Cats are not designed to eat the high levels of carbohydrates that lots of commercial foods contain and it can lead to health problems later on ie diabetes. Applaws is another good dry food brand.

    Agreed,
Orbit was very partial to the Purely but Daisy prefers the Purina One Adult.

"In Sanabelle you'll find only carefully selected ingredients, that passed through stringent quality control during their manufacture. For this reason Sanabelle uses the highest quality animal protein such as chicken and eggs and no meat meal. And, of course, Sanabelle contains absolutely no artificial colouring, flavouring, or attractants. Sanabelle is also produced without genetically altered organisms.

    Ingredients:
Poultry meal, maize, barley, animal fat, liver meal, fish meal, meat hydrolysate, greaves (dried), cellulose fibre, meat meal, egg (dried), dried beet pulp, linseed, dried yeast, fish oil, potassium chloride, dried cranberry, dried blueberry, mussel meal, chicory powder, dried marigold blossom, yucca extract."

A tad contradictory?? I'd like to know exactly how much of each meat meal is in the food, two sources of carbs (barley and maize) which may have been split so the poultry meal is the first ingredient. Would also like to know why linseed is in there, could be used as a stool bulk but they also have cellulose fibre and beet pulp for that, could be for omega-3 but I didn't think cats could convert it to a useable form.

    Hi

Has anyone got any thoughts on the Bozita Katty dry food? Also looking to change from Purina One dry food, but need something within same kind of budget, ie £14 for 3kg. Have read also some comments about P@H purely dry food. Is this any good. I know that its got a good high meat content, but does anyones cat like it. Oh and is also saw James Wellbeloved on the RL Pets for a good price. £22 for 5kg, which is roughly the same as i pay for Purina, just more of it.
    Thanks!

Have a look at applaws, there's zero difference between the kitten and adult foods so it would be suitable for both. It's about £30 per 7.5kg bag at vetuk, cereal free with no crap. Same goes for Orijen, but that's slightly more expensive. Please feed wet as well though, dry only isn't good for cats.

    Hi Rev

I do feed wet, they are having Bozita. They have wet in the evening, and dry during the day. I'll have a look at that, but i think that might be a little too expensive for me when you add postage.
    Thanks though
