So the fact that it is a private car park means you can do what you want does it? I don't like being labelled a trol just because I disagree with some one.
When you park anywhere be it private or council run, you agree to terms and conditions. If you have been just been lazy or ignorant then you get what you deserve. If however you have made a genuine mistake then you should get all the help you can. I beleive this is what I said in my original post.
sarahg1969 as to how do they know who is disabled and who isn't, I beleive that is why we are issued with a blue badge.I used to be me !! what happened0 -
I just hope Veggyboy doesn't get a surprise in the post from the likes of Parking eye saying his car is on camera overstaying his welcome, a fine because wind blew through the vents and sent the P&D ticket to the footwell, gets a council ticket when parked perfectly legally (I have seen this happen), gets clamped when no signs warning of clamping are displayed, or the residents permit fell off the dash leading to a nice metal boot on a wheel. Since he takes "responsibility" for his actions I am sure he'll happily pay up.
yes I have had this happen twice, once was my own fault and I paid up and the second time (car was clamped) there were no signs up and I had to pay to get my car back (stuck in a strange town and had no choice to be able to get home)then I took legal advice to persue and get my money back. PLEASE will all read my original post again and see what I said, instead of just jumping down my neck.I used to be me !! what happened0 -

But blue badges are not valid in private car-parks, and so just limiting disabled parking to blue badge holders is a breach of the DDA. If you don't believe me see this from a Mayor Of London's document:-
The DDA 1995 requires reasonable adjustments to be made for any disabled person who is disadvantaged by an employer’s or a service provider’s arrangements because of their disability. In this report we have assumed that any disabled people who are disadvantaged by parking arrangements are Blue Badge holders, and so can use Blue Badge spaces, but this may not be the case and therefore, technically, employers and service providers who provide parking solely for Blue Badge holders may still be in breach of the DDAWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
tristonana, my point was we can display them, whether they are valid in private car parks or not, I always put mine in the window so people are awareI used to be me !! what happened0

That's all very well but what does a disabled person without a blue badge do? And don't forget the original point of this thread. This is about one private citizen (the parking company) taking the law into its own hands and summarily (and illegally) punishing another private citizen for breaking its "rules".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

But what about the disabled person with no blue badge? Are you suggesting that it is OK for that disabled person to be discriminated against?0 -

Now you are splitting hairs, NO it's not alright for a disabled person without a badge to be discriminated against. It took me a year to get mine, in that time I couldn't park in disabled bays even though I use a whellchair when out.. But the same principle then applies to council run car parking, if you don't have a badge you can't use a disabled bay.I used to be me !! what happened0 -

But that's the difference. Blue badge parking in council car-parks is backed up by statute law. No such law covers private car-parks. So private parking companies just can't take the law into their own hands and punish people who break their "rules".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I know people make genuine mistakes, but this section seems to be just for people who didn't take any notice of where they parked or were just to lazy and don't want to take responcibility for it.
I don't think anyone would disagree with you about the need for people to take responsibility for their own actions, and the best way to avoid these private parking charges is to park sensibly in the first place (but even that is no guarantee!)
However, it's your comment that this section seems to be:
"just for people who didn't take any notice of where they parked or were just to lazy and don't want to take responcibility for it."
that I think is very unfair. You only need to read a small number of these threads to realise that statement is simply not true.0 -
I am sick of PPCs setting themselves as bounty hunters picking on the vulnerable and gullible.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0
