Cheaper than a skanky pot noodle with MSG :money:
(zippychick would like to apologise to the pot noodle people explicitly, but preservatives and MSG are simply not for me. This is my opinion and not that of MSE. I'm so sorry ):oA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I like to use chestnut mushrooms.
Porcini mushrooms are usually dried. Did hubby look in the right place?0 -

The large field mushrooms usually have good flavour or the smaller chestnut mushrooms. otherwise you can usually find packs of dried mushrooms in the Asian foods section (but to be honest I cant be arrised with them - too much faff! I just use the largest mushrooms I can find as the larger the mushroom the better the flavour!)0

I have a recipe for lamb cutlets and I forgot to buy Allspice when I was at the shops. Is there anything I could use in place of it?
Thanks!0 -
Do you have any mace or mixed spices to use instead?0
-
I would probably use nutmeg. Maybe a little less than the recipe calls for allspice. X0

I think if you google it, it will give you a recipe of how to make it.
Sorry, it must be mixed spice you can get a recipe for. I think cloves can be a substitute
Right, have now googled and found this.
1 teaspoon ground allspice = 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
