  • I used to work in a UHT MIlk Processing Plant and they used to package milk for all major supermarkets.

I can tell you now that Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys milk is all the same.

Also Tesco Value and Tesco normal UHT milk is EXACTLY the same. The only difference being that the normal Tesco brand has a plastic spout and foil tab.

So always buy value UHT to save pennies.

I shop at tescos and find their own brands excellent but unsure as to the origins :-
Tesco own peanut butter (Sunpat ?)
Tesco dandruff shampoo (Head & Shoulders)
    Tesco Value Meusli
    Tesco sugared cornflakes (not value)
    Tesco Doritos (Phileas Fogg ?)

on a totally different subject and slightly off topic, sorry............
My best tip for making washing machines last longer is to use a cloth to get moisture out of the bottom of the door seal and conditioner/powder tray and leave both of these partially open to allow air circulation after/between each use. If water/condensation stays trapped in the machines it no doubt severely limits the lives of components such as bearings and circuit boards. My machines seem to last for a very, very long time. When my current one finally expires I will buy the cheapest regular brand available so that if a major component goes wrong out of normal guarantee I can afford to throw it away.
    PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

  • Yeh, AEG was an independant german manufacturer until recently when it was purchased by Zanussi. I wonder if the machines are still made in germany? My AEG is german made and still going strong after 14 years of use without any faults, I bet the current ones are now built to a price and wont last as long. Oh well when mine packs up it looks like a Miele or a Bosch next then.
  • I used to work for a superglue manufacturer, and can confirm that most shop-branded stuff is virtually the same, with only very minor formulation changes.

    Loctite makes it's own though.
  • i was watchining a programme over xmas it said that 90% of all plasma screen tv are made by LG but sold to different manufacturers and they put there logo on them

I taught one Spanish to one of the direct suppliers of Tesco flour and he said that their normal and value flour are the same.

Just bought my wife a bread-maker from ASDA. It's their own brand (Durabrand) but it's EXACTLY the same as the Morphy Richards 48280 Model but £20 cheaper than it is on Amazon.

  • My brother works as a dispatch manager for Warburtons and he confirms that they DO NOT make bread for any supermarkets, only for Weight Watchers.

However, Roberts bakery in Salford do supply some of Warbies products, couldn't tell you which though :(
  • I work for Roach Foods (now Tulip), and we make a huge percentage of all supermarket bacon. All the Tescos, Morrisons and so on are identical, just different labels. The only different ones are Sainsburys (very high spec), and M&S (even higher).
Low quality stuff such as Tesco Value and Aldi is the really cheap bacon, but the mid range own brands and named products like Tulip are as good as you can get, as they are all the same.
In my humble opinion, Danish is the best bacon by far. British is ok, French is really bad, but buy welfare if you can as this is where the pigs are reared in the best conditions.
Hope this helps, this is my first post. Dith Da to all the Janners out there.
