  • :hello: :hello: I've just bought a White Knight Tumble Dryer for £ 129, and I found out that White Knight actually make Bosch dryers and washers. So buy a White Knight and pay a fraction of the price of a Bosch!!

Do you have any evidence for this? Are they made to the same specification, or just in the same factory - this is what we have been trying to get at. One Bosch model may be better than another, so there is no reason to say 'White Knight' are as good as Bosch's just because (and if) they are made by the same people

Seeing as a few cms of rubber is all that prevents your car from oversteering in to the opposite lane when cornering. I personally never skimp on tyres..

I must admit I do, and I've never noticed a scrap of difference in road holding or anything else, not that I drive as if I was on a race track. Companies love you to be scared into paying over the odds when 'only the best is good enough'. It's illogical. If cheap tyres weren't safe, I doubt if they would be approved for sale.
  • A loaf of Morrisons Best White Bread (available in medium and thick sliced) tastes remarkably like a Warbatons (is that spelt right???) loaf to me, very!

And at 47p a loaf its almost half price!

How can you say that? It's like saying that a Lada/Yugo/(insert cheap and nasty make here) is as good as a Toyota, or they would not have been approved for sale! Anyone can knock together a tyre in a mould, but how much quality control is there? How much R&D? How will they respond in a few years when the rubber has deteriorated. You definitely get what you pay for...

Having said that Citroen, Peugot and Toyota are building a small car jointly in the same factory (C1, 107 and Aygo respectively) Apart from a few trim items, these cars are going to be identical. That's a bit like the current MPVs - Seat Alhambra, VW Sharan and Ford Galaxy - except that these new mini cars will even share the same engines.

    Hi

I bought a pair of sandals in Primark a couple of months ago - espadrille type in baby pink, for £5. Saw the EXACT same ones in Barratts today for £15!

Anyone know of any other instances of this type of thing?

The Toyota was on Top Gear last night - and they really liked it, but they said buy the Citroen as it is £500 cheaper at £6500. How cheap is that?

It's not actually the same product, it's a copy. There will be some tiny detail different somewhere! Primark do a lot of that kind of thing. Bay Trading do too. In fact, most of the cheaper shops will copy something from the more expensive ones.
