The original company was started in 1936 by Raymond E. DeWalt, the inventor of the radial arm saw.

  • I used to work in the yoghurt factory in Kendal, Cumbria that makes the Greek style yoghurt for ASDA, both the standard ASDA and the smartprice yoghurt came from the same batch, they just went in different pots.

Regarding the Marks & Spencer Channel Island yoghurt, well that is made with Lake District milk, not Channel Islands!!

JVC was part of Matsushita (parent of Panasonic and Technics). In 2008 they sold their stake and JVC formed into a company with Kenwood (electronics not kitchen machines).
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)
  • You can see all the Estee Lauder brands at elcompanies.com/ourbrands

The group operates a factory just outside Petersfield in Hampshire where many of the products are made. The company name they use for this manufacturing business is Whitman Laboratories.

It's a major employer in the area and hence everybody smells lovely round here.

Could you tell please what all goes into yogurt? Do they put any stuff to thicken it or it's just milk?
If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.

AFAIK Its bacteria which thickens real yogurt, some brands use apple juice, others use thickeners (varying from pectin which comes from fruit through to man-made thickeners) but proper yogurt is made with milk and bactria cultures.
  • I seem to remember an explanation about modern food manufacturing techniques where thickening is achieved using the bacteria that created the slime on a rotting cabbage.

was surfing looking for more info on cosmetics. found this site (dated feb 2008) http://www.futurederm.com/2008/02/18/commentary-who-owns-who-in-the-beauty-business/

it lists product ownership. made me wonder about the processes inside the packaging as somewhere earlier on this forum it was mentioned that bourjois / clarins were the same... i don't know. sounded too good to be true. it seems bourjois have same owners as chanel. but most of the big names share a bed with someone it doesn't say much about the products themselves.

would love more current info if you know abt these products and cheaper versions of, please let me know.

    off to try bourjois now...

Going back to the electronics... Alba (along with Bush) aren't owned by Harvard International. In 2008 they were sold to Home retail group (Argos & Homebase) that's why they changed the name from Alba plc to Harvard International.
