A few years ago I heard that Asda Gold Blend was the same as Nescafe Gold Blend. Does anyone know if this is still the case?Dot0

i worked for thorntons and as said by other users cadburys do not make thorntons chocolates. Thorntons have their own factory. They do however make some of the chocolates for m&s.0

thorntons actually buy in their white chocolate. I can't remember who from but it is brought in containers and pumped into vats. If you have ever done the factory tour like i have you would have seen this. It was being pumped in the day i done my 10 year service tour. (i actually had been working for them for 12 years before i got the tour lol)
It might surprise people to learn that a company by the name of Barry Callebaut manufactures the base chocolate for most major chocolate producers.
They take the product from Barry Callebaut, which is made to their own requirements, and adapt it as required.0 -
Humm......don't know if this is quite what is wanted but I have a family member who used to work for Tricity-Bendix as a washing machine engineer & he knew for a fact that the internal parts/motors/etc of all Tricity-Bendix products (ovens, washing machines, tumble dryers etc) were made by Zanussi. Zanussi brand appliances retail for almost twice the price of Tricity-Bendix but the only difference was the external housing of the product. Beware, this might have changed as he hasn't worked for them for a couple of years though.
Yeah, I heard the same about bosch being essentially a hotpoint, and smeg being a cheaper carcass made up to look like its worth more.0 -

From my own taste test I would not say they are the same. Yes the freeze dried granules look the same and the resulting drink looks the same too, but the flavour is quite different.
I won't say one is better than the other as that is down to personal taste, but the Asda Gold instant coffee and Nescafe Gold Blend taste and smell very different, at least when made up as black coffee.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
I used to work in a brewery and Asda's own lager ( green label cans ) is actually Fosters. Same lager different can...much cheaper!
My sister in law used to work for Hovis and when they made Hovis white bread half of the batch would be bagged up in Hovis brand bags and the other half would be bagged in Tesco Value brand bags.0 -
my oher half used to work for mcvities and all the digestives are made by them, tesco, asda, sainsburys,m&s,aldi, lidl happy shopper, its just that m&s specify a different cooking time and are taken from the centre of the batch its the same for snacks
Can this be correct? I specifically buy Mcvities biccys because they are free from hydrogenated fats, (trans-fats), whereas Tesco's own are not. Has anyone checked recently?0 -

Interesting point. Different, but not much. No trans-fats in any of them:

Hi
On the subject of 'disguised' brands, does anybody know anything about Sainsbury's tvs brand name Emotion.
They have a good offer on one at the moment but as I have never heard of the brand I am slighty reluctant. Is it just a different name for a well known brand?
Thanks for your help0
