Try adding salt to the cheapest washing up liquid you can get hold of. As you add salt it'll become thicker and look more like a more expensive brand. It's no coincidence! Apparently people expect "better quality" washing-up liquids to be thicker.

    I disagree with this:

I used to live in with many others, we'd share the cleaning and used value washing up-liquid.

It would not bubble nearly as much as fairy- and adding salt would help prevent any further bubbles for forming so I cannot see how adding salt would help. Any bubbles that were formed would soon vanish (given a few minutes- I know because the few times I've added too much liquid, I have to remove the bubbles before I can reach the plates. I do this with the help of salt and a 30 second pause). And as for scent, there was none.

The bottle would normally last us 2 weeks at best. My bottle of Fairy lasts me a good few months (4-5 months)

Also, the economy liquid would never get rough stains and dried on food off plates without A LOT of elbow grease and further washing-up fluid added. (in the end I would give up and add surface cleaner as it actually did work!). Again, I cannot see how adding salt would help to clean things more thoroughly, as quickly or make the job any more enjoyable,

You'd expect most of the 'own-brand' alternatives to be cheaper.....but not in Somerfield! I have found some of their own-brand goods to be the same price and even more pricey than the branded alternatives!!!

Same with Waitrose: I laughed at their recent billboard campaign for their value ranges, where the prices were still nearly twice the price of asda tesco morrisons.

    Greedy s*ds

74p for 100g of coffee at Waitrose, I find it hard to believe that the other supermarkets to it for half of that.

I used to order bausch and lomb contact lenses when i worked at an Optometrists, they were dearer than the ones you could buy at places like Specsavers and the Opticians used to say they only stocked the best brand. However on a few occasions i was sent daily disposable lenses in Specsavers packaging instead of the Bausch & Lomb, so they must make for them as well.

Someone said about Silver Spring. It's right next to my sisters' (all 4 of them) old secondary school. At one point, you used to be able to go in and buy some of the old stock.

Also, Church and Dwight (they make Pearl Drops toothpaste) bought out the original factory (which had its head office across the road from my ex's cousin's house) (both in Folkestone) And you could get loads of stuff cheap there too

Well known fact, rinse everything after use immediately, the need for a more expensive washing up liquid is not needed!

Is it me, or is all Corned Beef canned in Brazil and just labelled in the UK? My wife insists on buying Princes branded, when the ASDA own brand has the same stamp on the base of the can!!
Further, it is probably produced in Argentina (Fray Bentos is a town in Argentina), but was "moved" to Brazil in the early 80s.
  • i went to have my hair cut at a salon in my local town, and when i was having my hair washed i noticed the smell of the shampoo was the same as i use at work, I am a dog groomer ! i bought a bottle of the very expensive shampoo as i left and compared it to the shampoo i use on the dogs, it was the same. The labels on the bottles said where it was made, they were both made at the same place. i phoned the salon up and informed them that their exclusive shampoo was the same as dog shampoo it did'nt go down very well but fortunatly i managed to prove it to them

  • I sometimes wonder about this. One only has to scan the list of ingredients.
