My OH is VERY fussy about his Fruit and Fibre breakfast and would never eat own brand ones. Lately he had to eat some Somerfield F & F and now says it's identical to Kellogs but much cheaper. Does anyone know if he might be right (why would I care really when he eats it and it's cheaper - but I'm just interested)

May have been at some point in the past but it's now New Zealand butter packed in Denmark. Think Anchor by Arla Foods  Country Life is hard and white, isn't it?

can't remember if this has already been posted but primark and debenhams have many items the same.
When I worked for debenhams we had a poncho for £25 and primark had the same one for £5, found out they had the same buyers, compared everything about the ponchos are the only difference was one said atmosphere and the other red herring... we occassionally would have a primark one in our stock lorry as well!
  • Try adding salt to the cheapest washing up liquid you can get hold of. As you add salt it'll become thicker and look more like a more expensive brand. It's no coincidence! Apparently people expect "better quality" washing-up liquids to be thicker.

McVities make biscuits for most of hte main supermarkets for their "own brand" products, but NOT the value ones. Eg. Tesco chocolate digestives in blue wrapper are McVities but the value ones aren't.

You'd expect most of the 'own-brand' alternatives to be cheaper.....but not in Somerfield! I have found some of their own-brand goods to be the same price and even more pricey than the branded alternatives!!!

Same with Waitrose: I laughed at their recent billboard campaign for their value ranges, where the prices were still nearly twice the price of asda tesco morrisons.

    Thorntons / Marks and spencer

Throntons make and supply boiled sweets and bagged chocolates for marks and spencer. Same recipes just different shapes!
That cant be right. M&S are nice but I find Thorntons inedible...
