It’s been a few days since I last posted. I’m still angry with myself for overspending or, to put it correctly, failing to budget correctly. I have managed to scramble enough together to ensure that all the outgoings are covered. Haven't been swimming for a week and feel so lazy but have had to cut back even on that. One saving grace is the overtime has come this month so Julys’ pay packet should finally get me back on track (that’s if I get paid, as my payrolls have a tendency to “forget” the occasional 4 hours here or there!) I’ve been constantly checking the temperatures in Florence. The only negative are the threats of thunderstorms!
I spent the weekend re-discovering how easy it is to enjoy life, through the eyes of my kids. We had the barbeque on, with the sprinkler watering a very dry garden, & then spent an hour running through it like a lunatic chasing them and generally acting like a fool. Felt like a kid myself with no cares and worries.
The plants in the garden are going great guns this year. Have high hopes for the cabbages, carrots, onions, beans, and tomatoes. Have kept them all under cloches and they have really taken off under them. Am very proud of the fact that we have grown them all from seed
Also have been making plans for the kids while we are away. They are staying with the wife’s brother and his family so they don't have to take time off school. They are looking forward to the extended "sleepover". My problem is, is I can’t see his wife being able to handle my two! They work so well in tandem; they are experts in distraction techniques and blaming each other!
Want to set aside about £100 to invest in stock for resale. I have spotted a few gadgets that I am very interested in. It’s just whether I can afford to take the risk. Actually, it might be a case of can I afford NOT to!
Still clean, has been 125 days, which is over a 1/3 of a year! Pat on the back time.
We can do this people. We CAN do this. Stay safe and stay clean people, and remember “It’s only a game!”0 -
Good, good - the boy is coming through I see. Love the sprinkler story - one more proof that the valuable things in life, your memories and the memories of your children are actually free, or very close to free.
About the £100 to invest - I would say go for it, but than I might be thinking as 'a gambler who is not gambling'. My reasoning will go like that: £100 is a lot at the moment but still you probably can afford to play with it; trick is if you lose it to srop at that - even investments like that can spiral; playing around with this £100 will make you feel better - you are doing something to remedy your situation; and the main thing - somewhere around the Forum there is a tread/challenge that started back in January and is about starting with £100 and making £10000 by the end of the year. You can join them late...and have another group of friends and supporters.
Good luck.

Was thinking about the £100 thing. I can see both sides, but have done similar in the past and doubled my money. Unlike my gambling addiction, it seems I am able to rationalise the fact that if I do double my money, I don't always have to "re-invest" the whole lot. Fly out monday morning, return thursday evening. Am not a good flyer.0

This whole £100 thing sounds great to me. I just stick my money in the bank and earn v little. I want to have a go too. If you find the thread Firewalker mentioned Mr William can you tell me what it is called. It sounds like fun!!!
Dress in comfy clothes, keep hugging wife and take a good book to read. The holiday will be fantastic!!!! Stay positive as we think you are great!!!Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
William,
my intuition about the £100 thing was 'go for it' - SW is confirming it. So, what are you waiting for - if you don't try it you will never know. As to flying, again good advise from SW. But I don't travel well and travel often - I take travel sickness pills and they send me to sleep. Might be worth considering...

LOL, tried travel sickness tablets once and made me worse. Also I need to be in control and when flying need it all the more. Am going to go for the £100. Have selected my products, and will order them next payday. Thanks for your support guys.0

Success and wealth, William - I am thinking positive thoughts and let the Universe be with you.
And thanks for all - will experiment.

THis is just a flying visit. Hate the transition from night shifts to normal late shifts. A restful day today, spent the afternoon chasing leads for my investments. Have a few leads but still need to investigate more. If only I had been this thorough when gambling!
Busy day tomorrow,. Have to cram in a lot, including running errands all over the place, visiting the bank, and getting sorted for the holiday.
Received a confirmation letter from Santander about the credit card, but still don't know the limit so still a bit in limbo.
5 days till we fly out ooooeerrr missus!

William,
125 days clean that is fantastic :T you definitely deserve a pat on the back.
Good luck with the £100 investment, Stay positive and you will get your return.
During your flight to Florence just keep thinking that it's not long before you will be enjoying the delights of Italy. I went to Florence many years ago and it is definitely one of my favourites places. It is a beautiful place to re-ignite that honeymoon "spark". Have fun and enjoy the quality time you get to spend with your wife. Enjoy.Save £12k in 2017 #14
