"The problem still remained though after it was installed. There were many popup windows because it was newly installed and I allowed most of them through because they were mostly related to vaio but a lot of the pop ups from comodo said it was trying to change a protected registry key."

You made it worse by blocking some of the comodo popups
Thats why firewalls can be useless to the average user, they dont know what theyre doing

You then made another mistake by running a system restore. Comodo buries itself so deep into the operating system that trying to remove it that way (As youve found) isnt a good idea

Id wipe the hardrive and start afresh personally. The absolute worst that could happen is you have to take it somewhere if it fails, but id rather that than a new computer thats not running as it should

If an older system restore doesn't work, backup all you data, then choose this one

I know now that I made it worse by allowing the pop ups, I got confused as its so different to zone alarm, some of them referred to raid would that have caused anything?

After trying to do a further back system restore it wont allow it, from google again its a common problem

"System Restore did not complete successfully, Your computer's files and settings were not changed.
    Details;
System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer . Temporally disable your antivirus program and retry System Restore.
An unspecified error occurred during System Restore, (0x80070005)"

I tried disabling avast and starting up without internet connection and it still happened, I then tried starting in safe mode to do the system restore but didnt do it because weirdly when I click start while in safe mode everything is there, all programs and everything so I just came out and restarted without safemode to see if it had gone back to normal but its still the same when not in safe mode, if it can be ok in safe mode what could be stopping in when not in safe mode?
    Thanx

Try creating a new user, make them an administrator, and login as them

I have done that and there is less on that one than the main account how can I let the other account have access to everything?
    Thanx

You ment by not allowing surely?

If its fine in safe mode then clearly somethings running at startup which is causing the problem

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

I meant when the windows that popped up from comodo to ask for permission, I did allow permission with most of them and ticked to say remember this option.. I know I should have been more careful, there were so many of them and I just put too much trust in that they were ok. Most were for vaio stuff some for raid and a lot said this is asking permission to change a protected registry key. I did also register the vaio as it was still saying from start up button register your vaio don't know if that caused anything as it was already registered by phone soon after purchase but as it was still saying this on the laptop I did that. I know this is my fault and not comodos which is why I'm thinking is it better to just let windows firewall do the job instead for people such as myself even though it might not be quite as good.

I will try the hijack this but not sure if it will allow me to download it but if not I'll try to download it on this pc put it on a usb and hopefully transfer it onto the laptop

I also found afterwards that it said in security that there were 3 things claiming to be a firewall, windows defender, windows firewall and comodo. I did not know windows firewall was running, I had previosly disabled it.

Even though I have removed zone alaqrm it is still showing in start up zone alarm force field and zone alarm checkpoint I select to disable them both and only the forcefield remains unchecked, checkpoint keeps on reticking itself, I checked in services and I cant see anything for zone alarm on there but it may be under a different name?

I have just found zone alarm in program files (x86) and tried to delete it but it says I need permission from administrator to perform this but this is an administrator account and anything else I right click on says run as administrator but not this one, it says restore previous versions etc I want to get rid of it
    Thankyou
    Thanx

    1. Doing the clean reformat/restore F10 option is by far the cleanest safest way to get the laptop back to out of the box as new condition.

    2. Then I suggest you use the built in windows firewall, install a good free anti virus (Avira Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials - the latter is my current favourite).

    3. Don't install further unnessary junk, you don't need a 3rd party firewall (windows is just as good, unless you need a specific advanced firewall config for some networking you're doing). you shouldn;t need to CC clean a brand new machine's registry unless you've installed a load of bundles optional VIAO junk

you might want to consider installing firefox browser

Oh gawd I managed to delete the zone alarm with ccleaner tools as it hadnt all gone before but still no change

Cannot download hijack this on laptop so got it on usb and put the set up on that way but it will not let me instal it.

I then tried to restore back to 23rd and it took a long time then when I try to log on it says the system cannot log into profile with password, tried logging in by safemode and it lets me in with password, it said corrupt trash bin do I want to delete i put no for now coz I'm in enough trouble. It confirmed that the system has been restored back to 23rd and all programs are there still in safe mode. Tried to instal hjt in safe mode it says no available in safe mode. Still cant log in profile by ordinary start up so cant tell if the restore has corrected everything on normal start up. Should I select an other type of start up to try anything or do anything in thesafe mode to try and get the system to let me in on normal start up?

it lets me in on profile with password in safemode and saemode with networking but still cant instal hjt
    Thanx
