Hehe, the really annoying thing is that the photos had come out a little funny because of the texture of the paper so I'd printed off 20 pictures on normal paper, cut them all out and stuck them over the photo so I should have noticed whilst I was doing that! I must have been really interested in what was on TV to not see!

Printed the 2nd draft off now, I really hope I don't find any more mistakes!

I got a nice stamp for my envelopes on Saturday, it says 'Fly away with me' with little butterflies around it. I got some pinky red embossing powder so I'm going to see how that looks tonight too, I hope it works!

Hi, i only found your thread last night and have read it all already lol. Im hoping to get married in the caribbean next March/April time 2, I can not decide which island i want to be married on tho keep changing my mind, hadnt even thought of the Dominican but it looks really nice & a bit cheaper than the others, better for family if its a bit cheaper!
There is me & oh and our 2 kids who will be 4 & 2, then my parents, my sister and her family & my brother. Oh's family said they will only come if we pay so they aint coming.

I hadnt even thought about all the documents, translations etc you have to get done, im guessing thats not cheap so might steal your idea & get married here first but dont tell anyone, just witnesses.
Can i be cheeky & ask how much ur renewal of vows ceremony is? Do you have any idea of the wording they will use yet? I've got all the brochures but it says you have to ring for the ROV prices.

We are considering having a party on our return but really dont wana spend that much money or end up having a whole wedding day again, thats was the whoel point in us going abroad but OH's family are being awkward
  • Wheee! Had my tropical themed wedding and it was all fab, apart from the absent friends. Just waiting for some more pics to come back so I can show you my palm trees and table centres.

Good luck to everyone who is still planning, hope you have a fabulous day - I certainly did!

Hi Miss_W! Our Renewal of Vows package is costing about £960 and it's the same as the regular wedding package, you just get a 'pretend' certificate at the end rather than the real thing! I don't know about the wording yet (we won't really get any more details until we get there) but we're hoping it's as close to the proper wording as possible. The ceremony is going to be in Spanish with a translator so if needs be we'll just blame the 'dodgy' translation if anyone thinks it sounds off! ;)

I'm not sure about documentation for the other islands but if you choose to get married in an English speaking country no translation will be required so it may be easier to get married in Jamaica (etc) maybe? But I think it's more expensive to go for the holiday which is why we've chosen the Dominican, it's still the Caribbean but it's more affordable so more people can come.

Oooh, I also made some giant leaps last night invitations-wise! Only c0cked up one page by cutting it too small (not really sure how... I must have been distracted by the explosions on Blitz Street!) but I'm reprinting that now so I can sort it tonight. I looked for a long-reach stapler at the weekend but the only one I found was £20, sod that! I'm using glue instead now and I tried it on a few pages and it worked a treat so I'm happy! Will post pictures of the finished things tonight hopefully!

ETA: I can't wait to see your pics Raspa! It sounds like you had a wonderful wedding!

Also ETA: With regards to awkward family- sod 'em! We've taken a very selfish stand and said we're not going to be made to feel guilty about anyone coming (or not coming) as the most important people there are the 2 of us and this is what we want to do. Normally we do everything for our friends and family and it's nice to turn the tables just once!

Thanks! I'm pleased with how the envelopes came out, I'd have liked a bit more on them but these look fine so I'm happy and they're getting sent out ASAP before I change my mind!

Raspabarbas, I love the photos of your wedding (love the pre wedding shoot too, you look so good together and the pictures are all amazing! I wish I was that photogenic!). I love all of your bright colours too, I'm definitely stealing some of your 'vibe'! :D

So I've been making good use of the morning as MSE was down- I've been looking at The Knot for inspiration!

I'm feeling a little torn cake-wise, whilst we won't be having a huge, fancy thing (MIL2B and her friend will be making it I think) I'd like it to have some flair but I've seen some lovely bright ones which will match the general idea, like this one:

But I also really like the ones which are more 'beachy' looking, like this one:

I really loving what's going on in these pictures, I might price up brightly coloured tulle to cover the walls or at least make into 'curtains' around the windows and doors.

Oooh and I got an idea for making paddle fans from picklepick's thread but I'm now confused as to what to do as I've seen these and love them too:

Lots of eye candy today! :D

Hey Birdie, just found your wedding thread, ooh I'm so jealous of your DR wedding! Myself and OH have decided (once we actually get engaged, which is looking like after our holiday), we'd like to go away too, thinking of Barbados! Love the beachy cake!
