Excellent work Woowoo, getting under 12K is brilliant. You must be really pleased Hope it starts to come down quicker now as your interest gets less and less.
Red - my Post Office is lovely, I should use it more than I do, they are really nice and helpful in there. I had a quick look at your diary earlier and I'm going to read it next... Woowoo's just happened to be on the 1st page when I looked at the forum and the title caught my eye!
I don't want to take over Woowoo's diary, perhaps I should start my own? Just that I've had a couple of very good days. My husband has been reading it too now and thinks it's great, he loves you paying 1p at a time to Lloyds!
First, total debt was more than we thought:
Tesco Visa - current balance £1362.69 (payment due approx 29 Sep), monthly spend so high interest
bmi - current balance £4787.35 (payment due approx 12 Oct), 0% expires then
Santander - current balance £3000 ish 0% expires Dec
we've stopped the rot
money for Tesco Visa transferred into savings account now (so has gone from current account)
bmi - withdraw money from ISA/Savings (was for Santander card) to pay
Santander - currently saving £300 a month & can now add £676.12 (loan has just finished) so can put £976.12 towards so in 4 months will have enough to pay it but no ISA/Savings any more (which I know is the best way, debt first.) doesn't leave much for anything else ,think we'll need to eat up some frozen meals from the freezer
Have some other bills to pay, garage for car, solicitor for wills, new backdoor but have managed to generate nearly an extra £600.00 this month as follows
£100 for opening first dircet account (leaving absurd & ludicrous)
£15 cashback switching electricity
£137.36 exchanging foreign currency
£77 loose change
£30 sky monthly saving, dropped a package and bargained hard for a deal
£25 bt monthly saving, changed broadband and wangled a credit
£181.19 british gas dd refund (account that much in credit, think we'll have that interest thank you)
£7.00 gas monthly saving
£15 gas price match (told them I had found a beter tarif and could get £15 cashback, they found us a better tarif and matched the cash back)
$5 playing poker last night!
sorry for such a long post but was so pleased with progress.
All have a lovely weekend0 -
You have done very well RumPunch and lucky you to have ISA to transfer over - in no time you'll have savings again! Congratulations

Hi RumPunch
Well done on generating almost an extra £600 this month.
It is scary not having any savings, but your right to clear the cards.
I've decided to get my !!! up the bank tomorrow and pay in my change and get it sent to Lloyds, gotta keep driving that interest down!
Don't worry about updating your own progress on my thread its fine, but if you start a diary I'll subscribe!

When I had my Virgin card the minimum payment was £25 and the interest was £20, of course pre-LBM I was only interested in what the minimum was and didn't even glance at the interest! Robbing git!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Lol love it you can use that one for your next diary that celebrates being debt free!
I was thinking earlier I wonder what will happen when were all free, after spending all day on here it would be weird not to talk to everyone anymore!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

think yours took me nearly a whole night it was addictive and gave me a much needed kick up the a***
Red - saw you had 48K, what's the balance now? Will definitely read later. Can you play poker? We keep hoping we will win lots at poker, sometimes I can play for 3 hours and only get $3!
Husband used to pay ricardo £80 interest a month - dread to think what I used to pay, have never paid ricardo though, mbna, capital 1, morgan stanley, marbles, barclycard but not ricardo. He probably feels a bit left out! Still have many old statements will have a look at the weekend. That's why I was determined not to pay the 'robbing sods' any interest this time, I've paid my dues. Have only just started putting a little into an ISA and last few moths haven't been able to put any in.
We were just saying all the good advice says have 6 months salary for emergencies. It will take us 22 months to save that! Time to stop the holidays.... where are you boarding at Christmas?0 -

Others have stayed on here when they become debt free because then they move on to their mortgage, like HWG is going to do. I look forward to the day I can do the same.
