Hi Woowoo, I've been reading your diary and your dedication and determination are amazing.
I had credit card debt a few years ago, I can't actually remember how much, but somewhere around £15k I think. I used to sepnd hours just checking statements, switching from one credit card to another and lying awake worrying about it. I didn't have your superb approach to getting rid of it but I did gradually shift it all.
At the start of this year I transferred the balance of my wedding, Christmas and an expensive holiday onto a 0% credit card. I have been putting away £300 a month to pay it off in December (when the 0% deal finishes) but have just had another expensive holiday so now need to use some of the savings to pay this months card.
Your diary has given me the nudge that I need much better control so I don't slip down the slippery slope.
I love the way you pay in small amounts, I think you should keep doing it. Every little helps and you can always budget for Christmas, better to be paying less interest now!
My husband is always leaving loose change lying around for his 'money jar' today I paid £77 into the bank. Bizarre thing was he noticed when he came home the money was gone!
A & L will only let you pay in 'full bags' and only 5 bags per day, they let me get away with it today, think they sensed I might have some 'issues' with them, but that's another story.
What a pity you can't shop around for some low % cards, think that really helped me, even if I did have to pay a fee sometimes.
Good luck, you're doing an amazing job and you inspired me today.0 -
Hi RumPunch
Thanks for your kind comments.
Clearing £15k of credit card debt is very impressive, you must feel so free?
I agree about continuing to use the loose change towards the credit card rather than Xmas, it's already killing me that I gave £2.02 sat there when I could be irritating Lloyds with my small payments! Think I will get my lazy bum up the bank on Saturday and pay it in!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)
