Making cards - Ideas for beginners (part 4)

been looking at scor-pals for quite a while now, then after seeing the MS scoreboard on QVC I wanted one of those, until I read some of the reviews on the QVC website of people saying the paper sizes were american style, which has put me off somewhat.
I am now back to considering a scor-pal but can't decide between imperial or metric. I learned in CMs at school so inches aren't my first 'language' (if you will!), however a lot of cardmaking stuff comes cut to inches as standard which I do struggle with sometimes and find myself converting it into cm's to understand it better :rotfl:
so my question is - who has what and how do you get on with it if it's not in your first 'language' so to speak?
sorry if I'm waffling...I think I just wrote down exactly what was in my head :rotfl:0 -
I have the MS scoreboard and i love it mind you most of the things im making on it are all stuff thats on the US websites and blogs so maybe thats why im finding it so easy to useI Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It0

Craftygranny too am shocked by your dentist, can you not take some medical history with you next time you go and 'deduct' their bill from yours:mad:
Rusty, I would love to split the bill with someone, but not sure there are any Derbyshire peeps here!
The bella bella papers were the ones which happened to slip into my basket lol
Have uploaded a couple of makes onto my blog, want to get mothers day card done, but am waiting from wild orchid crafts from some flowers, but not even dispatched yet :mad:0 -
Thank you for your comments my hubby had me half convinced i was just being picky. It had no stamp at all on just a yellow sticker saying pay up . I thought the least they would have done was apologise but obviously not. Now i have another dilemma my sons mate writes for the local paper and wants to name and shame them. Tempting but it wasn't about the money or anything just about doing the right thing . I'd be mortified to think i hadn't paid enough postage i put far too many stamps on if i can't get to the post office to have things weighed .
Alicia is having a lovely time in the us . She has this week off from her treatment so her grandad took her the 200 miles to disney and she was going to have tea with the princesses today.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

No matter how much life knocks you down, it's your ability to get back up, brush yourself off and face your next set of challenges that makes you stronger0 -
Wow, that sounds like an amazing time for Alicia! I hope she is having fun.
I certainly think the dentist needs to be complained too, could you complain in writing and then see if their response is satisfactory? Then you could name and shame them if not, so to speak.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

I'd try approaching the dentists first and see what response you get from the duty manager. If you still get no apology, firstly for the out of pocket monies and secondly for the way you were spoken to then I would name and shame. If you do get an apology then I personally wouldn't name and shame.
I have been reading on this thread the posts about Alicia and have just found her page on your blog. She is such a gorgeous little girl and so brave by the sounds of it. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through. I have a DD of 3 and DS of 7 and I can just imagine how her older brothers are feeling as that is the way my DS would be with DD. I will be following this thread now as I seem to be getting completely sucked in and hope to see positive news from the US.0 -
Just got in from a night out with my friends so a quick catch up before bed.
Rusty - sorry it wasn't better for you at the Drs, hope the new pills help.
Ali - DD loved her 40th survival kit :T, she opened it here when she visited but saved her card for the actual day. She took both into work, one of her colleagues has asked if I will make a card for her mom's 50th later in the year!
Craftygranny - good to hear Alicia is able to take time out to enjoy Disney. Disgusting about your response from the dental surgery. I would most definitely take this further. Complain about the way you were spoken to and the fact that the phone was put down. If it "happens sometimes" then tell them someone isn't doing their job properly. Ask for a refund of the money and if they say you are making too much of a fuss then ask if they would like you to underpay their charges for dental work. I wouldn't name and shame them through the newspaper though, could cause problems for you and your relationship with your dentist or they could ask you to leave the practice I suppose.
Sunrise - well done on selling your notelets.0 -
Hi all,
Just a quickie as I was lucky enough to be given some pro markers by the lovely craftgranny. I have been sorting out to see what I might have to give away and I noticed that some of you may still be making post it note holders and I have a large stack of beet mats and calender tabs going free.
I know it's nearly march but i'm sure people would still like a calender, in fact I just bought a diary today. Anyway if anyone is interested in any of this please feel free to pm me and I'll send some off right away. Sorry it's nothing exciting but hopefully will find more soon.
I think the dentist was really rude and you shold def put a complaint in. I would be fuming and probally crying with frustration if that happened to me,
Well done on the order Rusty. Dont under charge mind. It is a lot of work for you to do. xxWould love to earn an extra £40 a Week. Trying to find ways to :-)0 -
Oh my word - I've only been off-line for 24 hours and already had over 80 posts to catch up on! Talk? You lot? Nah ... :rotfl::rotfl:
Looks like I missed the party here last night.I hope you all manage to get some sleep soon x
Rusty - how on earth do you keep track of all those tablets? I'm so jealous of you (and others on here) who have wonderful OH's treating them to crafting goodies. You're so lucky. And thanks for the middle wife link, I could just picture it as I was reading it - hilarious!
saucy - I would phone the post office and complain. Explain that you've been housebound, which is why you've ordered things for home delivery. My postie is generally very good, although I do sometimes get larger deliveries left in the wheelie bin. We have 2 posties, the one who delivers the regular stuff and smaller packages will knock on the door, but the guy who comes in a van and delivers larger parcels never knocks the door - I think he must be scared of dogs.
crafty - complain!! Whether in person or in writing (I'd be there in person!), the attitude of the receptionist stinks. I wonder if she is the one also responsible for posting reminders? I would make the complaint personal as she hung up on you, and demand an apology on top of a refund.
Rant over.
I've lost my train of thought now. Will catch up on blogs tomorrow x
