Also can I ask do you ever get demotivated??? I mean I do the card making for me as it is now my hobby and I love faffing on - but when you spend a long time on a card and you get no recognition for it do you ever get cheesed off??
I'm sure we all do from time to time. My m-i-l is the worst. She likes my cards and has, in the past, asked me to make specials for her to send for anniversaries etc. But it really upset me when she asked OH if I wanted the cards back I'd made for her to reuse the bits otherwise she was going to throw them away. Now she gets a hand made card if I'm in the mood to do her one and she certainly doesn't get my best papers, expensive embellies, etc. I'm sure she wouldn't have liked it if I'd thrown out the cross stitch cards she used to send us at Christmas! (She doesn't do it any more.)
I've kept all the hand made cards I've ever received, I could never chuck them out as I know just how much has gone into making them and feel honoured that the person thinks enough of me to make one just for me.0 -

My daughter is like your mil. She doesn't like hand made cards though. I gave her a blank card blank and some papers tape and embellies for her b'day in jan and told her she could make her own as she didn't like mine. Then i didn't know if to feel insulted or not when she saw one i made and said oh that looks like a proper card like in the shops. :rotfl:at least i can laugh about it.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Oh bum Rusty, you should have a card from meIf not please know that I have sent one and I hope everything tomorrow goes as well as possible and I am so looking forward to seeing you again on Friday xxx Oh, I love your notebooks, beautiful papers
Mary, housework??? I probably don't do as much as I should but hey life's too short
Crafty Ju Ju, hope you're ok lady, don't do too much work so you're too tired to come on Friday, we want to meet you
I am not too bad about cutting up paper, even my bestest onesI do have loads and loads of paper that I haven't used but that tends to be becuase I go off it or a new range has come out and I want to use that or I just forget I have it. I don't tend to make cards for people unless I think they will appreciate a handmade card just because of how long they take to make and I can't bear the thought of my hardwork going in the bin.

Flourgirl, only 3 sleeps til the NEC, seems to have come round quick to me :j :j :j
It's going to be a busy weekend for me, NEC on Friday, DS1's birthday and party on Saturday and then tobboganning (sp?) at the snowdome in Milton Keynes on Sunday followed by hours and hours in the Lego shop as DS1 decides what to spend his birthday money on. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Pointofnoreturn - I'm jealous - I'd love to visit Alcatraz!!! What was it like?
Gemm - I hope you feel better soon - that's terrible that people daren't even take a day off work.
Wanna-b-rich - your card is lovely - love those bright colours.
Rusty - I'll be thinking about you over the next few days - have fun on Friday!!!
Tomsmum - I keep all my handmade cards too - I'm trying to think of a way of storing them nicely - I might try and make a book with my bind-it-all and use some of those a4 clear pockets but trim them down.
Paddingtondoo - your swap card arrived today - thank you so much its lovely!!!!0 -

If I don't get back to you then there are a few who have my number Flourgirl, Bunbun, Choccy, Rainmac so you can always ask them for it. I guess I will see some of you on Friday!!
Actually that's a good point - do a few people mind exchanging numbers incase I can't find anyone as it's my first time meeting you all and i'm coming by myself? x0 -

I have joined the insomnia brigade
had a mild sore throat for a couple of weeks now which wasn't really bothering me so I didn't go to the docs (naughty me), wish I had now because I have just woken up with the whole of one side of my throat throbbing, it seems to be affecting my ear on that side as well! I can barely move my tongue to speak or swallow and am just trying to choke down a cup of tea, my own fault I suppose! worst thing is I can't have a day off work as there are probably going to be job cuts soon and I dont want it to go against me, someone came in all last week with the worst cough and chest infection you've ever heard, it's wrong really but people are so worried it will go against them if they are off sick. will try and get a docs appt for after work, my colleagues will be pleased though - it will shut me up all day cause I can barely talk
sorry for the rant all but at this time in the morning theres no one else to moan to :rotfl: will try and contribute something crafty later, I promise :A
Oh no Gemm, hope you get your doc appointment today. That's awful about work xxx:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
