Making cards - Ideas for beginners (part 4)

Hi Ladies
I'm wondering if any of you are clever enough to make backing paper?
I'm doing another set of wedding invitations ( my niece is getting married in Scotland in December, and I'm sooo excited, can't wait!)
The men are wearing kilts and I would really like to incorporate a piece of tartan backing paper, the same as the kilts, on the invite, if at all possible?

Sal, you do need to find out what clan the family is if they are true Scots, there are a couple of websites around that will tell you. It could cause a bit of consternation if it's a rival tartan you use. Voice of experience speaking here from DD's wedding in Scotland, however from memory there is a general tartan but I can't remember which.
I'm sure there are a few freebies of tartan about. If not, perhaps using ribbons and embellies of the tartan colours.
PepPop might help as she is a wee Scottish person. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -

Melissa I too want to say thank you for your blog list, I would have been lost without it
Thrifty I have a bread maker but only ever use the packet mixes occasionally, I didn't like proper made from scratch stuff and OH always said if you kicked it you would break your toe :rotfl:
Happy Birthday Elliot xx

Thrifty - yes, we've got a breadmaker but I use (mostly Hovis) mixes. Lakeland used to do an Australian make that I liked (Lauke)?but stopped stocking it.
Lei - have you seen Rusty's photos? There's a lovely photo there maybe she'd let you use?
Madfrog - not sure - I think its a fluid you spead on card, heat, & it puffs up so could look like snow or white fur. Looks good but like rainmac I've no heat gun - yet!
Padster - How was your shopping trip?0 -

Its really overcast here this morning, I have to go to the Lakeside Outlet to pick up something for my mum, might have a look in M&S see whats in per unaThen to LIDL for some coffee pods. Might go to Staples too for some white card for stamping, DH can buy that so it doesn't count as stash as he will use it too
Rusty I can't see your pictures, don't know if its just me. I will look again later, I might have to sign back in to my Facebook, its ages since I posted anything on there x Glad you had a fab time, loved your text too :A0 -
Mad Frog the fluffy stuff just looks like PVA, same consistancy and the bottle has a really fine nozzle. You do need a heat gun though to dry it and puff it up, I did try the hairdryer but it didn't work.0
