I do it too! Sometimes me and DH get all settled down to watch a movie after a hectic day at work and once kids are in bed and one particular friend always rings about 9-10pm (midweek) and announces that he is on his way over - put the kettle on! I think its a bit rude tbh and sometimes we tell him we are already in bed and it's just too late (hope he don't read this!). So just wanted to say we all do it so don't beat yourself up.

I really don't like people turning up unannounced, it's just not on, everyone who knows me knows not to though, door to door salespeople make me mad too mainly because I have (another) sign on the door saying not to bother!

I'm a creature of routine and habit and don't take well to un-planned things, especially with everything else going on too!

I don't know if all the door to door salesmen round here are naturally apologetic, or if I open the door looking forbidding but they seem to practically fall over themselves saying sorry for bothering me. A quick "it's not my house" or "I make a point of never donating to charities who annoy me" usually get rids of them.

I just get asked if my parents are in, or if I'm old enough to be home alone?! LOL
