  • welcome charli, you're right this is a very friendly place :)

Well I managed to have my PJ day I was hoping for today :D I've been in them all day!

Got some boxes packed but have lost my brown tape (I've turned the house upside down and can't find it anywhere!) so I'm done for the day. The water is on for the bath and we've just had a delish roast dinner (well OH has and I've had one of sorts cos I dont' eat roast potatoes)

Gonna be cleaning again tomorow but I'm not having another week of living in jeans and a hoody, its too depressing.

RE: body image issues - I don't think it matters what size you are, everyone has the odd fat day (or run of fat days), and just because someone is a smaller size doesn't mean that their insecurities about their body is any less valid than someone who is bigger. I'm a size 10 and weigh 9s 10lb but there are some days where I still feel like a 14 stone (size 16/18) women because I think it takes a lot longer for the head to catch up. My eyes can sometimes be broken when it comes to my body image, even when I was a size 6/8 there were days when I felt fat, on those days it's more about what is going on inside rather than outside. I could compare myself to a media figure or even a slim women in the street and my head could go into one and the rest of my day was ruined. We live in a society where sadly size *does* matter, we're driven by numbers and status, it' a demonstration of achievement - not only what size you are but also how much money you have, where you live, where your children go to school etc all the models in the magazines an on TV are slim, catwalk models are slim and so the message we're fed is you need to be slim and beautiful to be a success, which of course is b0llox but when you're told that every day it's hard not to believe that it's true and have the odd wobble about your own image....I'm going right off on one here, sorry it's not aimed at any one person just a rant, it makes me so angry. Maybe it is a age thing, that as you get older you become more accepting of your body...but I even question that because the amount of people having cosmetic surgery is on the increase...what happened to growing old wth grace? gggggrrrr
*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I always feel like a hypocrite posting about body related stuff :o

I personally felt more confident at a size 10/12 with healthy curves, than I ever have done in my life.
Right now, I just feel...awkward and ill and stuck.
I was thinking earlier, actually, in a rare moment of not liking being single that I can't remember the last time a guy stopped and stared at me (and thsi may sound big headed, but they used to :o)...the only stares I get now tend to be of pity etc.
One of my favourite photos of myself is from one of those photo makeover days where I was at a good weight for my height and I just...idk, I glow and look alive.

  • Need my first bit of advice.

I brought a top in the Next sale yesterday.
It is a chiffon(?i think) fabric (quite see through). It has a black vest underneath and the pattern is the boats from the nautical line (it won't let me post links:mad:)

It has a slight frill at the bottom, near to my knees.

I was going to wear it with black leggings tomorrow and flat blacky/silver Kitson pumps but i don't know whether to wear a long black cardie (BF style) or blue cardie that goes to my waist.

    Any suggestion?

I can quite imagine you turning a lot of heads DB. I'd love to see that photo, maybe a blog idea, aspiration thype thing?
I rekon one of those makeover days would be so much fun but scared that they'll be really pushy with photos at the end. I was on the verge of writing in to This Morning when I stumbled across you girls here xx

    Evening, gang!

Isn't it light and lovely? I'm feeling a bit rough after 4 nights boozing and eating rubbish and another sunday lunch in the pub with a couple of pints of cider so it's a rock'n'roll night of Come Dine With Me, Restoration Man and Antiques Roadshow!

Lost, that dress is wonderful, I love it. Have you seen the new Yasmin Le Bon range for Wallis? There's some maxis to die for on their site:

    http://www.wallis.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?beginIndex=0&catalogId=20551&storeId=12557&categoryId=202623&parent_category_rn=180055&langId=-1&top=Y

    At the moment I'm wearing:
Kate Moss at TopShop clover print tea dress (Topshop sale buy 2 years ago)
    Yellow tights (Thanks, Alex!)
    Yellow T-Bar shoes (Charity shop)
    Mustard chandelier earrings (Xmas pressie)
    Silver bangles and rings (India)

...but soon to be replaced by a kimono and flip flops!

Daisy, the comment about you not remembering the last time a guy looked you up and down makes me really sad. As soon as you start to conquer your horrid illness your confidence will soar and you will turn heads again.

    Have a relaxing evening, lovelies!
