The real problem I have with BMI is that it totally fails to take into account differing frames and muscle ratios. I have never, never once, been in the normal category for BMI; I'm always overweight - even when I was maintaining at below setpoint (and got very ill doing so.)

Anyway, sorry about the wee rant, I'm in a grump this morning as I have a migraine and can't even sleep it off as I have a pointless back to work session where they will no doubt patronize me half to death. Therefore:

    Baggy pinstripe trousers (DP)
Baggy puff hem top (Mackays, a gift)
    Cashmere socks
    Black flats

Snap on the BMI! I'm 5'3" tall, a size 10 (and sometimes even a loose size 10 depending on how bad my IBS is) but well muscled and my BMI has just been measured as 28! The nurse put me on and off the scales twice, and checked the charts and muttered "rubbish idea these" :D My hips are measured bone to bone and my ribs are visible! I could do with a little off my thighs, but they remain stubborn! Despite 2 kids I am only a 21" waist! I'd have to starve totally to reduce that BMI and stop the exercises that keep my muscle tone! Eeeeew! Bingo Wings:D

  • Definitely agree with Daisy, BMI is just a calculation and is no reflection on the actual health of a person.

When I was at my slimmest I think I was a pretty mid range BMI. BUT I was really unhealthy. I had very, very little fat, and a lot of muscle. I have small bones so a lot of weight in my muscle was, I suppose, off set by that. In any case. My goals now are to return to a weight healthy for me, slim enough to feel good in the clothes I choose to wear and light enough to feel little or no guilt about getting a littler horse.

ATM, just trying not to gain again though.....:o

Music and me have a funny relationship, I go through phases of not being able to tolerate any kind without it sending my thoughts haywire, tis hard to explain but currently going through one of those phases sadly. I'm hoping it ends soon, I miss being able to listen to my favourite songs! I can just about tolerate cheesy pop type music, but too much of that drives me insane!
