I'm not entirely sure, but there's a recipe here for Plum Streusel Cake. I'd not know how to go about making plum vodka.

I dont know if this will help, but I was given a huge punnet of plums which were rather hard last year. and my oh was bbqing pork chops and i thought......hmmmmmmmmmmmm plum chutney!
I gently fried finely chopped onion and a crushed clove of garlic, added about ten plums (which were huge by the way) stoned and roughly cut up. turned the gas up to medium and softened the plums a bit then added some white wine (didnt have red) some sugar and some balsamic vinegar. then simmered for ten minutes. OMG!!! it was stunning with the pork chops! it made quite a bit but my OH ate most of it then asked if there was more!
If you have a heck of a lot of plums it may be worth sterilising some jars and making a good batch. with the wine and balsamic vinegar i would guess it would keep quite well.0 -
I had so many plums last year that I made Chinese Plum Sauce and bottled it. There are lots of recipes for that on the web, but I can't now locate the one I used - sorry. If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0

There are loads and loads of self sown wild plum trees in and around my garden, and this year they're loaded down with fruit. I could make jam and chutney, but I wondered whether anyone had any other ideas. The local birdlife has plenty, so there's quite a bit to spare, and no-one else round here seems to be picking them. I've just eaten a couple - they're quite sweet, but not quite good enough to have in the fruit bowl.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Lucky you!
Any plum or bullace recipe would be suitable, just check Google.
eg wine, sauce (sweet, ketchup like or Chinese style), cheese (also called fruit pate), bottled/canned in syrup, ice cream, pie, crumble, jelly etc etc!0 -
Hi susyrosy,
You lucky thing! I made a plum vodka liqueur last year when I had too many plums and it was delicious...must keep my eye out for some more.
As your thread has fallen down the page I've added it to the existing thread on using up plums so that you can read the ideas.

you can make plum and ginger crumble? I have loads of plums too and I tend to stone them bag them up into portions and freeze them so I can just make a crumble with them over the winter monthsAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

Hi
We also have loads of plums!
I made a lovely Plum and Orange cake with 500g of ours yesterday.
You can see the recipe at: http://letherbakecake.blogspot.com/2009/08/taste-of-londons-river-cafe.html
It's a River Cafe easy recipe. We're going to cook the rest of the plums in the orange juice, sugar and vanilla from the first stage of the recipe and freeze them in batches for winter.
They would be lovely with some yoghurt or icecream or with a little Amaretto....!0
