but morally it wouldn't be right to cancel it just so the travel agent couldnt get the rest of the deposit, after all she was doing you a favour by letting you pay a small deposit i.

    Are you serious?

They aren't doing any favours. They do it to commit people to something they don't have the money for right now.

Morally? When they sell a holiday for £500 one day + then drop the price to £250, the following day, do they offer a refund of the difference ? They set the benchmark for morals

See your point but in that case thats the individuals fault for living beyond their means, a lot of people use the low deposit scheme because the holidays are in the very distant future and want to tie up as little money as possible to secure a holiday at the price they like.

This is the Tour Operator that sets the prices not the individual Travel agent, and if we're going down that road where do you start ie Florists putting the price of flowers up the week before Valentines day, Mothers day, christmas etc. Toys up in price before Xmas etc.
Don't confuse an individual with the Big Boys, not all individual travel agents are just after the customers money.
  • just a quick reply.
how many times do people rip other companies off by grabbing things that we know are the wrong price or glitches. Is that morally wrong.
I said cancel the card because her friend had the details, it is up to him wether he pays or not.
amazing the interest this post has.
  • agreed, can we close this thread now please, I'd like to thank everyone for their help but it has turned into a debate completely unrelated to my initial query.

    Thanks again

Sorry if this is in the wrong place - my son has paid to transfer a package holiday into his name as one of the party decided he didn't want to go. The guy who cancelled is now demanding my son pays him back his lost deposit. My son's only going on the holiday because it was cheap (as the deposit had already been paid) and the other guy would have lost his deposit anyway had he cancelled via the travel agent. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
