You will have to pay the rest of the deposit no matter what, so ignore the dishonest people that say cancel the card you signed a contract and thats it. No good contacting TC/Manos directly as you need to go through the travel agency you booked at. For the time being keep the holiday the rest of the payment will be due in april pay that, then you have a choice up until 56 days before departure as although you have paid in full you can still cancel and get your money back but not the full deposit, because you may get a new girlfriend, or take a friend or sell it and do a name change approx £40pp. I personally would keep hold of it as long as possible who knows what the future holds.

See if you can wrangle a mate to come with you?

Could be the perfect antidote to a break up.
  • That sounds like a plan, the rest of the deposit is due in April but the remaining balance isn't due till summer anyway, so as you say, who knows what might happen in the next 3-4 months

basically her mate is a travel agent...........i dont think agents are directly allowed to deal with hols for friends or family so the consultant name on the paperwork is someone else from Thomas Cook and not her.

Why not go to "her mate" and tell her to sort it or be reported!

Because agents can book holidays for whoever they want. What's she going to get reported for ? Doing her job?

He signed a contract but is this a legal contract. What are his rights?
  • It is a legal contract. His rights are the same as with any other holiday contract.

Why would you suggest that it is not a legal contract? Did somebody hold a gun to the OP's head?

OP, why not go on holiday on your own? You never know what might happen whilst you are there! ;)
    Gone ... or have I?
