Kwik Fit MOT offer

Options
Hi,

Thought I'd share with you all news of Kwik Fit's special online price of £35 for MOTs. I booked mine yesterday, and I admit I did experience a few problems with the website, but I persevered and managed to book. I took my car to my local branch today, and it was done without any hassle. I was very impressed with the price, considering that other MOT stations in my town are charging £54.

Hope this helps.

Expect to hear "your brake discs, pads, shoes, drums, shock absorbers, and a few tyres need replacing - and we can do them for £££££". Throw in a nice dose of disc gouging, oil sprayed on shocks, and old parts brought out of the bin to show the customer. And if you have a clue and know they don't need doing you'll get the old "they do and it's illegal for us to put the car back together and you to drive away, you have to have the repairs done".
  • I pay £40 but know I can trust the guy without fail. He's thorough, knows his stuff and wont try to sell me the list that anewman has already listed
He also wont try and sign me up for a kwik fit card.
  • We charge £40. Vosa have set it a £54 and you can't charge above that but you can charge lower.

  • Funnily enough I didn't get any of the comments that you kindly suggested, and they didn't try and sign me up for a card. I can on occasions be as cynical as some of the posters on this forum, but I thought that a money saving post might help someone.

A lot of it is down to personal experience, glad you had a good experience with them. I personally avoid them like the plague, ever since I went in to get the tracking done on my car and they told me my brake pads were completely worn down (they had been replaced a few weeks previously). I don't know if they were trying it on because I am female but I thanked them for letting me know and drove the car away. :rotfl:
  • We used the one in Bolton and found them to be very good, they told us what it was going to fail on and said he'd keep our voucher to one side for us to bring it back for a freebie test (got it free with insurance) while we went to get the things needed to be done.

I think its down to all things in a chain, you get good ones and bad ones.

My one and only dealing with kwik fit was for 4 tyres on a mk2 H reg astra around probably 1997 ish. I was already spending £250 at that time but they come in and tell me when it was being put up on the lift the front wheels spun. It wasnt a big deal, the suspension wasnt totally beyond repair, I could get inserts installed for a fraction of the price of a new unit.
If I wanted, I could put it on a kwik fit card.
Needless to say, these "inserts" were never fitted and in all my time with the car it never failed for the suspension.
Thats why I'm "Cynical". First hand experience. That doesnt include my father or my wifes friend who both got the "inserts" done.

Just out of curiosity, did the car pass ok?

Which is exactly why the previous posters have made their comments, to save people wasting theirs.

I've never used them. I was put off when one of their so called technicians blew himself and the car out of a plate glass window in their town centre shop whilst he was trying to free an exhaust with the oxy/acetylene kit   . Shut down the main road for quite a time, didn't save the car owner much either.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
