That's probably the plan, just wondering how many of my calls, even at 3p, might be cheaper on BT :)
None (to 01 or 02 numbers) because BT have a minimum call charge of 5.5p and charge 3p per minute.

Using www.call1899.co.uk, the 3p connection charge for a call to a UK 01 or 02 number would allow you to make a call of unlimited duration from a BT landline.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    So ultimately they're changing from:

"Calls are billed per second rounded to the nearest penny"

    to:

"Calls are billed per minute rounded to the nearest penny"

so calls which have a higher p/min will suffer the greatest increase.

I have also had the Email today, but on checking my account the 2 calls I have made today have only been charged at 3p, thefirst was for 3 minutes and the second for 10 minutes, so the whole issue seems unclear

Currently 18866, just signed to 1899. Looks like I'm re-programming phones tonight ;)

But ..18185 is cheaper if a number of your calls (eg son at Uni) are to UK mobiles on week days (5p / min on 18185 as opposed to 10p with 1899). As he never rings us, and his Mum talks to him for ever - it's by far the greatest part of our bill

It was unclear - for 24hrs. Your calls are from 1899 to UK landlines? Which charge a 3p connection charge and 0p per minute. So - absolutely no change there. The change has been where there is a 'per minute' charge (eg to UK mobiles) and they are now rounding up to the nearest penny.

Well I've checked my 1899 itemised charges today and they are not 'rounding to nearest penny' they are 'rounding up to next penny'. I pay 1p per minute (using cable) and had a call answered by machine lasted 2 seconds before I could cut off. Charge today is 4p. I looked for a similar length of call before today and found the cost charged was 3.03p.

18185 phrase it as 'rounding up to the nearest penny' !! So I suppose they're being a bit more accurate than 1899.

I've noticed they seem to be rounding up to the nearest minute. For example 1899 charged me 9p over the weekend for a 1.33 minute call to a mobile, thats 3p connection charge plus 3p per min rounded up to the 2 mins.
