Just back from my final shop for March, my month ends on Friday 19th. Im about £30 despite upping my budget to allow for a Costco shop. However Im not too downhearted as I've stocked my freezer and done a big pet food shop which saved me loads in the long run. Todays shop just drove me over the edge as Asda had whoopsied large lasagnes and shepherds pies down to £1.95 ea which I thot was ok so took 2 of each for freezer. Also got whoopsied quiches and cereal so a good haul for not a lot. Then I went to M&s outlet and they had BOGOF on their 650g tins of shortbread - £4.99 plus 2 for £6 on the scrummy belgian choc biscuits - guess what's in my cupboard?
My defence is that neither me or OH smoke or drink so chocolate and biscuits are our drug of choice!:rotfl:
Although Im over, I feel Im starting April off on a good foot - if I could just stick to that bloomin' shopping list!
Have a good day all!

Welsh Poppy thanks for the Bara Brith recipe, made it yesterday after seeing your post- turned out lovely and very easy to do :T
Slightly exhausted myself yesterday batch cooking and baking, spent hours pottering about the kitchen but at least I have plenty of meals in the freezer for the next 2 weeks at least (famous last words). Got the grand daughters next weekend so will have plenty of time to spend amusing them and not cooking.
Have a good week everyone0 -
Just spent £14 in co-op, bought 4 of their half-price chickens (usually only buy FR but these are semiFR and at that price I'll put up with it!)
Welshpoppy - Thanks for the recipe x
Spiggle - I too give my DH (and myself) 'pocket money', then I don't feel the need to moan about what he spends it on as I'd budgeted for it already. Works well for us.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

NSD's for me. DH at work and he has the car so I cant get to the supermarket, great for keeping within budget. Small panic this morning as we ran out of spread, then went to the freezer for mince for tonights spag bol and found 2 packs of butter I'd forgotten about.0

Afternoon all, last week was a complete wash out and i ended up going over my £50 budget, I spent about £40 on cat/kitten food and litter but the kitten food was on offer and should last me until they go to their new homes. I have taken deposits on 3 kittys so far amounting to £80 but loaned that to my dad
as he had a huge repair bill for his car:eek:.
Yesterday and today have been NSD and yesterday i cooked 2 small chickens and a joint of gammon so they need to be the basis of my meal plan this week. I also baked 2 tray-bakes so that's treats sorted for a few days. This week I will be needing more cat food/litter,eggs(£3 for 24 double yoke ones) and probably bread and milk so here's hoping for a low spend week0 -
Treated myself to some half price flowers from the Co Op today (seeing as I only got chocolates for Mother's Day!) plus a whoopsied loaf of bread so another £5.63 onto total spent plus I need to go to either Mr S;s or Mr T's tomorrow.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0

A minor spend of 86p on milk today. Just did an online shop for delivery on Wed afternoon.
I think I've just realised:think: the thing with the grocery challenge is that its not the weekly spend that matters....it's the monthly total! I was trying to spend £35 every week and seemed to be struggling. Last week I spent nearly £50,
but this week it's only about £30!Less is more0
