All successfully deleted, thanks once again!! :T Should I run anything else? I assume the same malware is also on my external hard drive which was plugged into this lappy a week ago, and possibly also on my 'new' laptop that I don't use as it won't connect to the internet wirelessly.

    Theyre trojans, not malware

And I doubt its on the hardrive, but you never know (Be a good idea to scan with Dr Web again but with the hardrive plugged in)
Be a good idea to run combofix again too, to make sure those trojans are gone

If you wish for us to look at your lappy then run malwarebytes and hijack (And make sure your clearly put its your laptop so no confusion)

I have two laptops: an eighteen month old Fujitsu Siemens which we have been working on - Combofix has just been tried and made the computer turn off again. :( I now cannot use my function key to switch wireless capability on so am presently connected using a wire which means perching on a stool in a freezing room! :( I assume this means I still have trojans?

I also have a two month old Sony laptop that I am supposed to be moving over to but which refuses to connect to the internet wirelessly. Or at least it will connect to the internet but won't actually allow me to access any website except the Thompson Gateway (router). I have just switched the Sony on and Avira automatically updated, but Malwarebytes will not manually update.

Anyway the Sony is for another time, I do feel as if I have long since reached the limits of my ability here ... thanks for your patience I do really appreciate it.

If you have access to an uninfected computer download Superantispyware Portable onto a usb memory stick and try running it on the infected computer.

    http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html

PS. When using Superantispyware Portable I would also scan your usb stick at the same time.
Beware of cross contamination if using between your various laptops, PCs.

Thank you. I already have Superantispyware on the infected FS laptop and it updates fine using the cable. Do you want me to run it again as it is? Or is the portable different?

Okay, run it but don't forget to update it first and see what it comes back with.

Superantispyware did not find anything on a complete scan. But I have just discovered that Windows Defender was turned on on my infected laptop!! I have definitely not done this, I know to not run more than one virus checker. I don't know if this is because the laptop has turned itself off at a point I had switched off Avira to run one of the other recommended programmes?? I presumably need to run things again with both Defender and Avira off?
