Sounds like parts of your operating system might be missing
Download CCLEANER
http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim
Run the CLEANER scan (UNTICK 'cookies')
Then run the REGISTRY scan (Backup the registry when it asks)
reboot
Download GLARY UTILITIES
http://www.glaryutilities.com/download/gusetup_slim.exe
Run the ONE CLICK scan
Goto MODULES / SYSTEM TOOLS / WINDOWS STANDARD TOOLS / then run SYSTEM FILE CHECKER
Download and run the FREE version of DR WEB
http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/
Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to the 'Would you like to read purchase terms now?' message
Click START click OK
It will auto QUICK scan
After that set to scan the WHOLE computer and press the 'play' icon
***DO NOT UPGRADE TO FULL VERSION***
If you get stuck at any point, post here what it was then jump straight to running Dr Web
I already use CCleaner  did as you suggested. Glaryutilities made the laptop switch off, and Dr.Web link doesn't work for me, says '550 failed to change directory'.

- We are going to run this special tool.
- Please download TDSSKiller.zip and save it to your desktop.
- Extract the zip file to your desktop.
- Double-Click TDSSKiller.exe to run it.
- When it finished press any key to continue.
- Let reboot if needed..
I tried this it only took a few seconds to run, I don't think it found anything and it didn't reboot. On the bright side my lappy didn't turn off!!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Thanks for your help so far, aliEnRIK! I decided to try Avira overnight as that was the only program to be successful so far, and it found object av-test.txt detection eicar-test-signature. The trojan is also still in quarantine: can I safely delete/ repair these two items please?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Hi FF
I don't think it is a trojan it seems to be a antivirus/antimalware test file as far as I am aware, it tests to see if your security scanners picks it up.
Only problem is I don't think you can delete it?
Info here...............
http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
Can you remember if you downloaded this?0 -
To the best of my knowledge I didn't download it, I only ever use software you guys tell me to!
Does aliEnRIK mean that my hardware is faulty (this lappy is v poor quality) or I have a mega infection problem?
Shall I try to delete the trojan and the test thing?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I have managed to download Dr.Web! It started the quick scan then I saw 'microsoft visual c' along the bottom bar which is the hotkey problem again and the laptop turned itself off.
Do I need this hotkey app thing? I looked it up and I don't use the Windows button. Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
TICK and FIX these in hijack ~
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\Windows\system32\hkcmd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotkeyApp] "C:\Program Files\Launch Manager\HotkeyApp.exe"
(Looks like you might be having problems as you have 2 seperate hotkey programs running):idea:0
