Washing Powder or liquid and sensitive skin

for laundry i have always used peril non bio as this is the only thing that does not agrevate (sp) my excema, last time i used another brand was when i washed my sleeping bag before a camping trip, it had to be done at the launderette as it wouldnt fit in my machine. i did not sleep the first night and my skin was such a mess as i had to use the stuff out of the laundrette powder machine at 20p a go. i was so uncomfortable, tierd and irritated that i had to buy really expensive persil non bio at the camp shop and spend 1/2 of the only decent weather day of the trip in the camp launderette washing and drying my sleeping bag!! i also used to only use comfort conditioner but now use white vinager except on the wollen wash as i had an expensive cashmere jumper as a christmas pressie and am too scared to use viniger on that!!
living in the glos area i was without water for 2 weeks following the summer flooding and bought persil non bio small and mighty in a bid to keep my work uniform clean as a liquid is easier to hand wash out than powder.. even this caused me a problem and i had to start wearing my own clothes that had been laundered before the water shortage to work. luckily my boss understood the problem.
if you have allergies and particular washing products work it is false ecconomy to try and save money by choosing different products!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Both I and my daughter have excema, mine flares up mostly between my fingers (ouch!) her's is (or should I say was) far worse as mostly she suffered what could be best described as a severe nappy rash. I found the "sensitive" powders not always the best - ecover washing up liquid triggered off the worse attack I'd had in years, although other people swear by it.
Through trial and error, and good old MSE we are now clear (hope that's not tempting fate:rolleyes: )
Washing powder (for some reason the liquids set off my sinus problems) Ecover non bio, I buy the huge bags from goodnessdirect and use a fraction of the amount. I was told by a very good washing machine repair man that when the wash is going around you should only see a few bubbles. If it looks like you've overdone the bubble bath then you've used too much!
Fabric conditioner - white vinegar mixed 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water - i use about 1 1/2 - 2 tablespoons per wash.
Washing up liquid I used to use tesco value (the 15p ish bottle) never gave me a problem but I just stick to stardrops now as we have a d/w and it's one less bottle in the cupboard.
Unfortunately all people are different and it's usually down to trial and error until you get the right combination.
The only problem with the vinegar fabric conditioner is that I've noticed I can really smell fabric conditioner on other peoples clothes - and it doesn't encourage me to buy it as ii smells very overpowering!
My other DD was a bit of a fruit juice addict in her younger days (still is in moderation) Health visitor encouraged it but the dentist nearly collapsed in horror! It does attack the teeth but he told me if she HAD to have it (yeah right I'ld like to see him refuse her some and live to tell the tale:D ) to keep it with a meal, not too often, and to give her a piece of cheese to eat afterwards to help neutralise the acid. no problem for me as her second favourite food intake was cheese.

Has anyone seen this cheap or on offer anywhere please?
Im just about to go in hospital and need to either order some or send DH to the shops for some. The last batch I bought from Aquados and I got 10% off using a netmums code that doesnt work now. The cheapest I can get it from Aquados is 5 tubs for 11.96 that includes a free tub. I read that around Christmas time Farmfoods or Morrisons had it on offer. Does anyone know if its on offer anywhere at the moment? It has really helped our little ones eczema so we want to keep using it.
Can anyone do any better on price please?0 -

Just thought I would bump this thread up as I have been trying Aquados washing powder.
They are selling the non-bio ( 30 tabs ) in Farmfoods for £1.89. The wash results are excellent.
If one does a google on Aquados there is a firm in Leeds that provide samples. So I've found the bio is excellent too.
Aquados also comes in boxes of 100 tabs, but I haven't enquired about the price yet. It's own website does not sell this size.
Has anyone else tried this washing powder yet?0 -
