yeah the ones for senstive skins tend to be less smelly - and the eco ones too. I start to itch just walking down the detergent isle these days. HorridPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

If you use vinegar in the softener drawer [cheap old brown will do] this tends to neutralise the pong, and no your clothes do not smell like a chip shop insteadEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

The sensitive ones are usually a good bet
or just good old stardrops!
I do like a strong perfume as I dry mostly indoors, but sometimes it makes me gag! Just using stardrops at the moOU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110 -
Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know of any sensitive 'colour' detergents?0

I've used surcare washing powder for a few years now and it cleans well and has a minimal smell. I too find the smell of most brands over powering. Both myself and my younger sound have eczema and surcare has never been any trouble(lots of others have brought out a terrible reaction in our skin). All this trial and error business does get tiresome dosen't it?
Hope you find something that works for you.0 -
I've merged this with a thread on washing powder or liquid for sensitive skin as they would be less perfumed

I recently bought Sainsbury's Non Bio tablets but have come out in chicken pox like rash all over my stomach, shoulders and spine. Its gross! When I lived at home my mother always always always used Fairy Non Bio powder because it was the only one which she wasn't allergic to but it's so expensive! I'm going to give Ecover a try... If that's unsuccessful looks like I'll be biting the bullet and spending hundreds of pounds a year on Fairy.
What are Soda Crystals that everyone keeps mentioning? What do they do?0 -
hi all
i am finding in past two months that i am itching alot whilest at work i have reduced the degergent i use but the problem seam to have increased. i have been washing in cold water for about 4 years as the heater in my washing machine stopped working back then i wouldn't have thought this would be the issue.
can anyone list the brands etc of these sensitive washing powder/liquid and fabric softner so i can give them a try instead. My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -
Hi
I have also suffered with this problem for many years.
The detergents I use are Surcare and Ecover.
I find these help as they are not highly perfumed. As for fabric conditioner, I just don't use it as they are much to fragranced for me.
