Hi is great too thanks. He is 8 1/2 months now, the time is going soooo quickly! He has just worked out how to crawl properly after months of commando shuffling. He is desperate to walk too. He pushed a cardboard box the length of the room the other day, so I think I'm going to have to start babyproofing the house again.

Wow - he sounds really advanced. It must be great to see him crawling. My Max seems a bit frustrated at the moment, like he wants to go places but he can't. They are brilliant though, aren't they?

After lurking on Memorygirls thread, and the Complete this Challenge Challenge, I've decided to come up with a list of 100 things I want to do in the next 100 days that should help make some money, and tidy/declutter the house.
I've not quite come up with the 100 yet, so will add to this lest, but here goes.

    1) List baby gym on Ebay
    2) List Jumperoo on Ebay
    3) List 5 items of maternity clothes on Ebay
    4) List 5 more items of maternity clothes on Ebay
    5) Finish touching up the paint work in the kitchen
    6) Finish the skirting in the playroom
    7) Put up the curtain tie-backs in DS2s room
    8) Finish the trim in the kitchen
    9) Clear out the playroom
    10) Clear out DS1s wardrobe
    11) Ebay the things cleared out of DS1s wardrobe
    12) Paint DS1s room
    13) Put down laminate in the bathroom
    14) Ebay DS2s bouncing chair
    15) Ebay the shoes DS1 has grown out of

This is the list I've come up with at the moment, and I will add to it as I think of new things, and will sort them into categories too...

LittleBit, are you having a laugh with your overpayments - it's funny to read but it's hardly going to make a dent in your mortgage - sorry I don't mean to be rude.

Yes of course I am having a laugh, I mean why else would I waste my weekends doing car boot sales and listing things on Ebay, oh yeah I have nothing better to do and it's a laugh.

I might not be able to clear thousands a month, but surely something is better than nothing.

Thanks for the really helpful comment :D

That is quite a thoughtless comment. We are supposed to be nice to other money savers and by adding 'sorry i don't mean to be rude' it doesn't make it sound not rude. That sort of comment can be really demoralising when all of us on this board are working towards a common goal and some people are exceptionally good at it.

Littlebit - i for one think you are doing a great job trying to overpay. You may not be paying off thousands, but persistence will pay off as you get further along. I like your 100 days ideas. I said i would join in. Not doing that well so far but i guess we are only 7 days in. My house features highly on the list. I organised cavity wall insulation today. Yet more expense.

I noticed you were at Cannon Hall farm. I've been there a few times and really like it there. The kids love the park. Maybe we should try and think of a place where we could meet up easily with the kids and try to do it. I know you get like i am and a bit fed up and lonely. If you fancy it, let me know what you think. We both can drive, so it shouldn't be too hard to arrange. Sorry your DS got stung. DS1 was stung at the zoo on our holiday 2 summers ago. Horrible. He soon forgot though. Take care, and keep going.

In my defence I only read the OPs from the first page, a few pounds here & a few pounds there which seemed a bit silly & to be honest funny, but I can see you have been making quite significant payments every month which is something you should really proud of as most people are too short sighted to appreciate that every little bit counts. You have a hell of a mortgage so good luck.
  • Hi all, this is a great idea and so much encoragement for other to. So much so that i too am gonna have a go to as i have just turned 30 and to have my mortgage cleared within 10 years would be brilliant. So I cantacted my mortgage providers yesterday to find out how to make OP,s as there is nowhere in my mortage account for me to click to do this.

When I rang them they gave me all the info I needed such as Sort code, Account no and Reference, so i can now happily make an OP at anytime.
But first they said to tranfer a little amount to see if it would work and to call them today to find out if they have recieved this, of which I will be doing later.

Good luck to every1 on their quest to be Mortgage free, and keep up the encouragement too.

  • Just rang our Mortgage supplier and the £1.00 I sent them yesterday has gone through. WHOOP WHOOP. I can now start making OP's. :)
