Yippee I've just rung NR to get our balance, and it's now £173,821.20 :D
I know it's still loads, but as I'm on maternity leave and we're on interest only, I think it's great that we've paid off £1139 in 7 months :j

    Hi Littlebit,

How are you? I think you are an inspiration to have paid off that much in 7 months. Will be following your journey with great interest!

Hi CMD, am good thanks. Hope you and baby Max are ok? My Max is doing great, I can't believe he's 5 months already! Still not getting much sleep though

Are you trying to reduce your mortgage too? I think the last time I posted on Dinah's thread you were renting? In fact I'm going to go and have a nosey now
Mummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4

YIPPEE I'd calculated our outstanding amount wrongly. I thought we now owed 173k, but have just called NR to check and the os balance is now £171,990.90 :j
Now to try and get it down to 170k ;)

    Hiya,

My Max is very good. He fed at 9pm, 3am and 7.30am this morning so not bad for a 5 week old baby :) Can't believe your Max is 5 months already. It doesn't seem so long ago when you were announcing his arrival on Dinah's thread!

I post in here because I am hoping to get rid of all of my debt in 2010 and then I want to overpay my mortgage. You are right, we do rent, but we bought a flat in 2003 when we were living in Scotland and rented it out when we moved down south. We have about £114,00o left on it so I want to overpay as much as possible as we would love to live in Northern Spain one day and I want to have as much of a deposit as is possible :)

You are doing so well, is your OH on board as well?

Brilliant. I can't wait to have our debt paid off so we can start the overpayments as well!

Your Max did better last night than mine! and that was a good night for us

OH is sort of on board, as in he just leaves me to it and he doesn't really buy anything without checking with me. We have always earnt similar wages so its just been 'our' money, rather than mine and his.

Are you going back to work CMD?

Aw no, you poor things :( It's only in the past week that Max is starting to stretch out the night times a bit longer.

Your OH sounds a bit like mine. He leaves me to sort out paying off the debts but likes to look at my signature every now and again! I am going back to work but just on a 3 day week. My contract finishes in Jan 2011 so I want to go back and finish off the project. When the contract finishes I might end up being a SAHM if I don't find another job that suits me as well. We would just about scrape by if I was a SAHM though, unless OH gets a pay rise!!!

I am going to be doing a 3 day week too. We could just afford for me to be a SAHM, but we wouldn't be able to make any payments on the mortgage at all (we're on interest only at the moment).
I would love to be at home with the kids, but we need to pay the mortgage and bills, and I think 3 days a week will be a nice balance.

  • Hey, hae you tried making alittle money on ebay. if you say to yourself that your not going to make a million but just make the odd couple of ££ here and there it can get quite adictive. Just search for cheap small items like cufflinks etc (cheap to post) and buy a few the relist them for a pound extra or 50p extra and add 50p on the post you can do ok. then pay that in as well

Ideally I would love to work 2 days a week but there aren't many jobs for 2 days. I am not looking forward to looking for work again!
