I have been for DS's new phone battery - they were double the market price online PLUS P&P  so I popped to town (free parking;)) and walked up to the market and bought it. Now charging...
The council, in its infinite wisdom (insert ROLLEYES) has significantly altered the free parking zones around the town centre, and where I used to park is now permit holders only. Since DD has stopped dancing on a saturday though I do not HAVE to be in town at a certain time so I am parking carefully - at the Bingo if needs be ;) and saving ££££s

Sabs stuff looks fine to me!

I have had a wedding invitation this morning:D and the happy couple have requested no gifts (they are mature and shoving two households into one anyway IYSWIM) but have said that, should we care to they would like donations to Christian Aid. I have just been for a look at their website and Christian Aid do things (like Oxfam) where you can 'give' a gift eg a beehive for someone in Bolivia. CA then send a card to whoever you are giving the gift in the name of telling them what has been bought in their name.
Although G & A (aka happy couple) haven't asked for this I wondered if I could do this? Seems 'nicer' than a cheque IYSWIM. Would love your thoughts...
(I think the beehive sounds a really nice idea...pigs are an option too :rotfl: at the thought of that...or goats...)
I could buy beehives, bees and beekeepers bonnets...
(A is a committed Christian and an enthusiatic Traidcraft supporter so something that helps people improve/rebuild their own lives would be a cause close to her heart.)

    Hi everyone

Sorry out of the loop a bit as things have been a bit manic. Trying to catch up on my study time, meetings, asked to speak at other events, kids appointments, keeping on top of kids current issues (DS1 objecting to where hair is growing oh isn't puberty fun!!.....pulling the skin off his feet with his eczema etc) oh it's all fun.

Needless to say housework is slacking, DP has been helping by vacuuming and general tidy ups in the sitting room etc when asked which is a help, not perfect but more than he did before. Kitchens not great. Dining room covered in DPs car stuff but that is only until tomorrow. Bathrooms ok as DPs Dad/Step Mam still using it so making us stay on top of it. Bedrooms pig sty. Laundry piled high......oh not looking good. Dusty your new thread might just be the kick up the bum I need! I need to get the house sorted, trying to devise an action plan as my current ones have failed!

Froddy get well soon vibes for your little shadow x
Valli I like that idea, if that is where the money is requested to go to I'd rather see it's impact IYSWIM
sexymouse ((hugs)) for all of you, surely the children must be suffering too under her regime.....sounds like a complete nut job. Well done at getting your NQT passed, sticking it out for longer than many of us would.
One day I might be more organised...........

Valli - mixed feelings on this...we did donations to charity for our wedding (as well as some presents)... it was really nice to know that altogether we'd 'raised'/ our friends and relatives had given well over a grand than lots of smaller things. I'd have to ask DH about what is more use to the charity too...sometimes what is best is just unringfenced cash donations as they can put it where most needed... BUT, I think whatever you do will be great, it's great they are having a charity thing and having done it I can really say it makes the wedding even more special. After our wedding we actually saw some of the charity's projects first hand when we went to South Africa which made it even more real. CA are a great charity.
