Can I join too please, I have posted on the SAHM thread but technically I'm not a stay at home mum yet, although in a couple of months I could be as I am having real childcare issues at the moment as OH has started a new job. I work 16 hours a week, have a 13 year old, a 6 year old, 2 dogs and 2 cats and OH, guess who makes the most mess?
I am lucky in that I get either 2 days or 4 days off each week but there still never seems to be enough time in the day to get the house sorted, every morning I'm running around like an idiot, chasing kids and dogs!!
  • Hi,

    Could I join this thread?

I have a 9 months old little girl and I return to work tomorrow after 11 month leave :( I'm so worried about gong back to work, managing the childcare aspect as well as getting myself organised and in the office on time! I'm worried about the money side of things as well as my wage/benefits will change and my expenses (childcare & travel) will go up

I am just going to be doing 2 days but this will be bulked up as I want to get involved with some charity work/work in the community.
Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!

    Hello

I was so warmed by all the support and creative ideas on the stay at home mums thread that I thought it would be a good idea to start something similar for those of us who are working and could do with making our work and family life run a bit more smoothly. I am a mummy of one with a variety of animals to fit into my schedule as well. So lets see if we can pull ideas to make life that little bit easier!

    Hi
Great idea would love to join this thread. I have a 14 year old and a 20 month old and work 4 days a week. The other day and weekends just seem to be about playing catch up. Looking forward to any tips about how to get more organised (and maybe get more time back for the fun things!):)

I know what you mean about playing catch up, I get 4 days off in a row, I spend the first 2 days tidying up , and doing washings and ironing, then its the weekend, by the time I go back to work on Monday the place is a mess again. I would love to come home from work, the place was tidy and I could just sit and relax and spend time with the kids
  • Hi everyone :)

Great thread :T I could do with some tips on getting organised :o

I'm a working single Mummy to my two daughters aged 6 and 7, I work part time 4 days a week to fit in with the girls school.

We have a great routine, although sometimes I wonder how I manage to get them to school on time for 9am everyday :rotfl: so I could do with some extra tips :)

  • I'll be joining this thread too. I have 3 kids - 10, 6, 2 and 2 dogs. I work 3 days per week.

Joannag, yes tradesmen will call out in the evening to price jobs. In fact it is probably the best time for many of them as they are actually doing the work during the day.

  • Well my tip is I got my husband to put a smallish tv in the kitchen. I make 4 packed lunches after kids in bed while watching Corrie or Eastenders - don't feel I am missing out my soaps and makes the task less boring (it takes ages as everyone likes different things!)
  • Hi Im a full time working mum of 2 girls aged 17 and 10. Im a regional manager so spend half my week in my car driving to customers and the other half in my home office.

Am terminally disorganised though house-wise, but do plan meals etc and keep a strict diary/timetable.

My best tip for anyone is to put away as you go along. Then it never looks so bad you cant bear it.
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!
  • I'd love to join in too!

I have a 3yr old dd and work 32 hours a week over 5 days, fitting around ballet and picking dd up from playschool twice a week as cm can't.

I also have 2 older ds's aged 18 and 20 but they've both left home (youngest a week ago), and a sd aged 11 who comes every Friday evening and goes home Saturday evening.

I'm home studying anatomy and physiology and love knitting, crocheting and crafting in general. Also trying to get to the gym or a class 3 times a week!

joanneag - my dh is a roofer and will come and quote evenings and weekends. Most will, and appreciate it, as it means they don't have to take time off from their current job.

Sarah2490 - good luck for tomorrow! Honestly, it won't be as bad as you think it is and you'll get used to so quickly. My dd loves going to her child minder and even wanted her to take her to her first day of playschool!!!
