HDMI lead for Xbox? Best price/quality ratio

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced HDMI cable for my Xbox. I mention quality as i'm lead to believe that certain types are better. I'm not sure if this is the case but i'm looking for a good balance of quality v cost ideally.

  • i was looking for one for a little while for my ps3, as i needed a 3metre length.
hughes was around £35. i went to my local westgate house store (co-op) and got 1 there for £19.99, it has gold connectors and has been great up to now!

  • Thanks. 1 meter in length would be fine for me I think. There seems to be some examples of amazon for about £10 - is this likely to be poor quality?

These expensive cables are just a rip off! Digital is digital.. I use a cheap cable that cost around £2 from eBuyer that I bundled in with another order.

Yes I've got this Ebuyer cable and it's just fine. Seems quite well made, and displays 1080p from a Blu Ray player perfectly.

Just buy the cheapest you can find (marked HDMI 1.3).

Quality only becomes an issue if you need more than 5m of cable AND your source transmission is far in excess of 1080p.

HDMI does scale quality depending on the bandwidth of cable (at a software level) BUT its very very very hard (and expensive) to find a tv that supports the high bandwidth resolutions (its much higher than 1080p) and it is impossible to find content that is made for those silly resolutions. (At a comsumer level anyway)

the 360 isnt as fussy over HDMI as the PS3 for cables (IME)

  • I got a "PS3 HDMI" cable on Amazon marketplace for 80p last year. Works a treat on my Xbox. I have another one for my media center. No problems with either.
